Health promotion and disease prevention strategies require effective approaches to evidence-based practice that encourage positive health and wellbeing. It is important to identify areas where evidence-based practice solutions might be useful in supporting the general population in the areas of health promotion and disease prevention as they affect millions of people throughout the world. The use of existing evidence to influence how individuals and families work to improve their own health is instrumental in the development of expert strategies and approaches to solve problems and improve outcomes in this area. Physicians, nurses, and other clinicians must utilize their expertise to improve health promotion and disease prevention activities for males and females across all age groups. The following discussion will address evidence-based practice solutions and existing practices in greater detail and will demonstrate the impact of these strategies on health and wellbeing for the general population over the long term.

Analysis

Evidence-based practice objectives are critical in making decisions regarding a variety of issues involving population-based outcomes (Brownson et.al, 2009). These conditions reflect the importance of community-based directives as supported by existing research and practice-based evidence which will have a positive influence on the general population (Brownson et.al, 2009). The data generated by existing programmatic objectives plays a critical role in the development of strategic approaches to issues surrounding public health and disease prevention in many ways (Brownson et.al, 2009). These opportunities support the creation of programs that will have a much-needed impact on promoting greater health and wellbeing, along with effective measures to support disease prevention in a variety of areas (Brownson et.al, 2009). It is anticipated that these efforts will provide specific education regarding areas of disease prevention that are most relevant in the modern era, including the prevalence of chronic illnesses such as diabetes and hypertension (Brownson et.all, 2009).

General improvements in different areas of health require an understanding of the challenges and limitations that plague many population groups (Frieden, 2010). One of the key areas to consider is the utilization of evidence-based practice to identify socioeconomic barriers which often prohibit successful outcomes in preventing disease and in promoting health (Frieden, 2010). Socioeconomic concerns such as poverty are substantial indicators of poor or very limited progress in disease prevention and health promotion; therefore, evidence-based practice solutions should be considered to support the development of new strategies which are applicable to those impacted by socioeconomic barriers (Frieden, 2010). Therefore, opportunities to provide education are essential in the improvement of trends associated with health promotion and disease prevention across population groups (Frieden, 2010).

Health promotion activities should be based upon evidence-based practice because these efforts demonstrate factual evidence and areas of success (Inman et.al, 2011). Due to the challenging nature of health promotion and related activities, it is important to identify areas where success has been achieved and to educate the general public regarding these objectives (Inman et.al, 2011). A number of different education-based programs have been supported by existing knowledge and evidence-based practice considerations to improve knowledge amongst such groups as teenagers, young adults, and older adults (Inman et.al, 2011). These efforts have a positive impact on behavioral choices and modifications to improve health and to prevent disease in some areas, such as chronic illness, addiction, smoking, and other behaviors which impact health (Inman et.al, 2011). Therefore, the impact of these programs has been effective in improving health and behavioral outcomes for many groups through increased knowledge and understanding of risk-taking behaviors and how these impact general health and wellbeing (Inman et.al, 2011).

Evidence-based practice objectives also support greater knowledge and understanding of the social determinants and their role in facilitating new objectives for health promotion and disease prevention in many areas (Koh et.al, 2010). Maintaining health is a highly personal process; however, directives provided through public health and other educational initiatives are important because they actively contribute to the creation of modified behaviors that improve health and wellbeing (Koh et.al, 2010). Therefore, evidence-based practice strategies also play an important role in facilitating outcomes and establishing determinants of health that will be effective in health promotion and disease prevention across a variety of areas (Koh et.al, 2010). It is necessary to recognize that evidence-based practice is likely to play an instrumental role in the development of new ideas and approaches that may positively impact general health and the prevention of disease, and in particular, chronic illnesses that may be preventable under some conditions (Koh et.al, 2010). These efforts will provide healthcare experts with the tools that are necessary to educate the general public and to provide evidence-based approaches to support these needs across different population groups, including adolescents and adults (Koh et.al, 2010).

Conclusion

Health promotion and disease prevention are complex challenges that are faced throughout the general population. The efforts made to encourage the achievement of objectives in these key areas are often grounded in evidence-based practice knowledge and solutions. Therefore, it is important for clinicians and healthcare experts to recognize that evidence-based practice is effective in supporting short and long-term strategies to improve health and to prevent disease across the general population. The efforts made in these areas influence how individuals and families respond to health concerns, address general health and wellness, and influence disease prevention tactics. It is necessary to utilize existing evidence-based practice methods in support of health promotion and disease prevention activities across all population groups to improve life expectancy, quality of life, and other common challenges.
