Exploring Online Resources for Teachers, Essay Example

Essay

Two of the best online teaching sites related to curriculum collaboration between teachers from all over the world are Alchemy and Stoodle. The first website allows teachers to create digital lessons that can be shared with other teachers and classrooms anywhere in the world; it also allows teachers to “build and manage small or large team environments” for all grade levels, departments, schools, and personal networks. In addition, Alchemy offers Smartbinder which allows a teacher to “create unlimited courses, add units to each cource, and tag lessons with dates” (“Alchemy Learning”).

The second website is Stoodle which differs from Alchemy in several ways. First, it provides a virtual whiteboard with unlimited pages and real-time collaboration between teachers; it also provides real-time communications through voice conferencing and text chat. Much like Alchemy, Stoodle also provides a permanent storage bin for all materials which accepts unlimited amounts of images for later use (“Stoodle Overview”). Basically, what these two websites truly share in common is the desire to help bridge the educational gap between traditional brick and mortar institutions and online educational and instructional sites.

My reason for selecting these two teacher websites is because they represent the best that the Internet has to offer related to teachers becoming part of the ever-expanding world of web-based global teaching and education, especially concerning grades K-12. I also selected these two websites because of their professional appearance and their overall simplicity related to accessing the applications.
