Owners of small businesses are obligated to embrace social media in their business so that they can fully engage their clients. Most of them have appreciated the cost effective and simplest means of staying online in their business. However, the rates of engagement of small business owners in Facebook have declined in the last past. This has been attributed to the promotion posts that have been created in Facebook. Some people have been trying the posting for free in Facebook but have achieved mixed results. The paid post to increase the likes has little influence on business and therefore the small business owners have been frustrated. Any small business owners with aspirations of making use of the option of paid advertisement in Facebook are likely to get good results but the costs are the limiting factor. Although Facebook has of late introduced some sophisticated tools for advertising that can target the user directly, this option is not of much help to small business owners because only the medium size and large firms can be able to make proper use of these tools.

The owners of small business have therefore been put in to confusion. Although they are determined to post regular adverts on Facebook, majority of them are unsure if their efforts have any implications with regard to customer attraction. This puts the small business owners in to a dilemma if they should seek for alternatives. However, Facebook can also continue to offer a platform for online presence for free but it does not have a strong agility of customer engagement with the required enthusiasm. The posts generated by customers however get higher reach in Facebook than the posts that are generated by the business owners.
