With a renewed focus the health care design is to improve the rapid changed in the overall experiences for patients as well as satisfying staff.  With the goals set to increase the rates of staff retention and provide a better work environment, renovating health care facilities will also help to improve the direct effect of patient care. Throughout this paper the writer’s intent to enlighten the readers on the recent expansion of the Women’s Life Center located inside of Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby, North Carolina.

Community or facility need for the building or renovation.

Located forty five miles from the huge city of Charlotte, North Carolina is The Cleveland Regional Medical Center of Shelby, North Carolina. The Maternity Ward of the Women’s Life Center located inside of the Cleveland Regional Medical Center was renovated with the intent to expand and improve the quality of care for expecting mothers. While changing the experience of birth from average to the warm and comfortable feeling, patients and staff have been privilege to reside and work in a more calming atmosphere. The fulfillment of this expansion was done to in order to improve the overall local health care experiences. With the new renovations of this local facility also impacts the pride of the community by knowing that they have one of the new state of the art facilities. Giving the community bragging rights to compliment and acknowledge that there are changes being made that would benefit the quality of care for patient. This excitement is exaggerating because often times renovations that are being done are not for the upgrade of the community. Most common renovations are departments stores, office building, and restaurants none of which contributes to the improvement of health care. It is always refreshing to know that there are improvements being made for the sake of quality health care.

Type of population you are serving

Staying focus in the number one priority that is required by your family, regardless if you are a mother, daughter, sister, aunt, wife, grandmother or all of the above. This particular department that has been renovated provides care for expecting mothers. The other services that are offered within the facility are group tours and pre-pregnancy classes both of which are giving prior to delivery, cesarean section classes, car seat classes, and even postpartum follow-up. With the new renovations of the Women’s Life Center patients are able to receive an even better quality care.

Description of the facility that you have selected

Developed by their strategic plan the new “Center of Excellence” Women’s Life Center at Cleveland Regional Medical Center is a two story structure adjacent to the front entrance of the hospital.” Extending to the current lobby this project construction connects into the Women’s Life Center. A new designed set of elevators transports patient from the Second Floor lobby where it is spacious and welcoming to patients and families. On the second floor of the newly renovated Women’s Life Center currently provides an excellent choice of services for the patients of the birthing center. Also connecting to existing Postpartum Units and Nursery are the new educational space, eight labor and delivery rooms, and a cesarean section suite. The newly birthing center is now providing spacious and comfortable labor and delivery rooms with whirlpool tubs, birthing tubs, and calming interior finish materials and colors.

In conclusion, not only will these renovations upgrade the facility of Cleveland Regional Medical Center but it will also add a touch to history for the organization. Mothers who delivered prior to the renovations will be able to share with their children and daughters the experiences they had will being admitted. Daughters may also be able to compare and contrast the quality of care and the environment they are delivery in presently. Often times when a mother delivers recommendations are given by other mothers of which hospitals provides the best services and which hospital are not recommended. The health care design rapidly changing with a renewed focus on the improvement of the overall health care experiences, the accomplishments of increasing patient satisfaction along with the goals of increasing the retention of staff has tremendously increased. Additionally, with the benefits of collectively creating more work production helps to shape a shared vision with staff
