Fashion industry is one of the competitive businesses, which comprises of talented and creative persons who normally invent styles and trends.  Success of any fashion company is based on its ability to develop a design for its brand, which is unique for other companies. Smart Knitwear, Inc., is a leading designer, manufacturer, and marketer of different cloth ware (John 220). The products from this company are of high quality, it does offer over 100 styles of sportswear and accessories in different colors and sizes. Success of any company is based on clearly understanding of its organizational structure and organizational chart.

The organizational chart is a structure showing the organizational structure and the job positions of different departments within the organization. The chart is used for illustrating the relations amongst parties involved in an organization. In Smart Knitwear, its organizational chart consists of chief executive at the top level, which is in charge of fashion director, merchandising and promotion, store management and operations. The company has several outlets and retail stores in different parts.

Organizational chart makes it possible for work specialization process to be accomplished. In work specialization, the Smart Company has divided its organizational posts into separate position and distinct resulting into division of labor (Burns and Gitman, 130). Work specialization is advantageous to the company as it enables efficiency in utilization of worker’s skills, thus, encouraging improvement on their skills.

Departmentalization, which involves bringing of individuals to form units, which then forms departments and when departments merged, they form larger units. These processes help in providing of organizational goals and objectives. In Smart Company, there are different departments, which work independently in performing its activities. These departments include manufacturing, marketing and finance department. These departments, however, work together in achievement of the set goals.

With clearly defined organizational chart, there is a clear chain of command. In the Smart Company, the decisions usually made in the upper office and passed to other departments. This ensures that there   is orderliness in the company’s operations and activities. Span of command of the company is based in the role various departments in issuing directions (Elle 120). Processes included in this process include accounting, expenses and control, and consumer credit. The processes ensure that consumers and company’s needs met thus achievement of the company’s objective.

Growth of the company because of sound management and diversification of its activities has led to expansion of the business into new areas. These bring about decentralization of merchandize distribution leading to regional operations. Organizational structure, which is a basis of the organizational chart, reflects the company’s directions and position in the market, thus its success. The organizational structure of Smart Company, Inc., is thus successful in the accomplishment of the organizational goals and objectives.
