Essay

Introduction

The Federal Bureaucracy refers to a highly ranked department in a government, which is under the president and is composed of other cabinet officials. It is an essential part of any society since it organizes, standardizes and compartmentalizes tasks needed by the citizens through activities like road maintenance, issuing of drivers’ licenses and immigration and national defense.

The National Security Agency is among the many departments in the Federal Bureaucracy. It chips in to help the citizens, through the government, during times of crisis by giving them medical insurance, welfare and pension entitlements. It is run through a program where employees pay in a system that later issue them interests after retirement (Matthews & Berman 32).

The president and many republicans fear that the national security will face a crisis in the coming 15 years or so, and they are not in conformity on how to fix it. The greatest problem is that many baby boom generation employees are almost retiring. The average age of US citizens is rising, meaning fewer employees are left to pay for the many retired people; hence, the social security withholdings will rise, and the entire system will crush. The president projected the privatization of a large portion of an individual’s security entitlement. This would make the people earn more money with their savings than with the smaller government pay cheques.

However, voters do not agree with the plan, as they say, private market can also go under as it had happened in the economic downturn of 2008, and nothing can hinder a company from declaring bankruptcy. They insist that they can risk any other money but not that channeled for the National Social Security. The present employees pay to the advantage of the present retirees through their National Social Security payroll tax. When the present employees retire, they will be depending on the money from the employees of days to come (Young 5).
