There are several methods through which feelings and meanings can help in promoting the communication systems between employees and managers in the workplaces as well as in life in general. Furthermore, a reflection of feelings also promotes the listening skills of individuals in the society. In proper and effective communication process, it is imperative that the speaker and the listener involve the use of emotions and feelings in their communication process. This usually promotes understanding of the meaning of what is being said. In most cases, the habit of just talking cannot make an individual a good communicator thus there is a need for the involvement of feelings and emotions in understanding the meanings of the communicator message. However, a number of research-based reports and publications indicate that good communicators are usually good listeners. Furthermore, understanding of meaning is the main purpose for communication. In that sense, understanding of meaning of what is being said will promote communication between individuals in the society.
In addition, in the communication process the meaning of the content may be direct and indirect. In cases of indirect meaning, the listener should involve his feelings in order to understand the intended meaning. Communication mostly involves the use of language in order to share information thus understanding the meaning of the information is very imperative. Language is also used in communicating emotions and feelings. Therefore, the speaker and the listener should infer the correct meaning of the information through involving their feelings and emotions. This usually improves and promotes the communication process among various individuals in the society.
Feelings mostly involve perception and physical sensation of an individual experiences in the environment. In most cases, Individuals who have sensitive feelings and emotions usually have high chances of becoming a good listener, good communicator, as well as a good employee in the workplace. This is because sensitive feelings allow individuals to pay more attention and to understand what others say or communicate. These individuals are also conscious of their surroundings and are more alert thus are more likely to be good employees in the workplace.
Moreover, listening skills and ability usually involves cognitive aspect as well as an individual feelings. Developing effective listening skills depends on an individual’s feelings, cognitive abilities and the willingness to listen to the message. However, this depends on the meaning and information that the speaker intends to send to the listener.
Communication mostly involves sharing of ideas and includes both verbal and nonverbal communication systems. For effective communication to occur, the intended meaning of the information should be clear and accurate. The listener should also be able to understand the meaning of the information intended.
Furthermore, feelings mostly include psychological involvement in the listening and communication process. This is because it promotes an individual concentration and understanding of the meaning. It also involves an individual thoughts and emotions in the communication and listening process. For communication process to be effective, the correct meaning of the intended meaning should be provided. This will allow the listener and the speaker to reach an agreement thus promotes the communication process. Therefore, the effective communication process is usually based on the provision of the sense of meaning.
In conclusion, it is true from this paper that good listening skills depends on a number of factors including involvement of an individual’s feelings and understanding of the intended meaning. In current society, listening skills are high valued and are necessary for almost all activities in life including in workplace and family settings. Individuals should aim at involving their feelings and understanding of the intended meaning of the communicated information in order to become good listeners, communicators and employees in the workplace as well as in life in general.
