Fellowship Application, Essay Example

Essay

Currently, I am working as a project manager responsible for delegating tasks to my project team, setting deadlines, identifying and analyzing risks, and tracking work progress to ensure that the set objectives are met. My current project management goals include ensuring that my team is motivated, ensuring that we deliver quality outcomes under the current budget, and meeting the set deadlines. However, we have faced challenges of a tight budget, language barrier for some employees, and a fixed deadline. As a result, I have employed an interpreter and added unskilled labor and reduced working hours to help in solving some of the above challenges.

I am an engineering graduate whose objectives include providing quality, reliability, and managing sustainable and safe projects for clients at their budgets. I am a postgraduate in Project Management and innovation Management with risk analysis skills, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting skills, ensuring that the client and management are updated on project progress, and the challenges faced. In addition, I learned effective communication skills, project design, and research skills for suitable solutions during my studies. My field skills include project planning, staff management, and report writing, budgeting, conflict management, and staff motivation and emotional management, among others, ensuring that we achieve project goals and provide quality services.

I recently worked as a project manager to construct a classroom fully done by my vocational students. The school provided a budget of half a million dollars for the class project, ensuring the project produces a quality outcome. It was also a test of my teaching and project management skills. I sought a student architecture that designed a two-room class, used by students as the construction and electrical engineers for the project. I was happy because the students delivered a quality project cost-effectively, leaving a hundred thousand dollars as a surplus used to buy furniture. In addition, I was happy because I achieved academic and professional success with my students, and they would have something to show after school. The department commended me as project management tutor of the year.

My biggest strengths are effective communication, project research, budgeting, multitasking, and effective team management skills. However, I have a challenge in risk management, inability to pressurize my team members, and perfectionism. However, I am currently attending risk management and human psychology lessons to perfect my skills.

  1. The long term challenge is corruption in government
  2. Poor interdepartmental communication and coordination is another long term challenge
  3. The short term challenge is poor regulation compliance by team members

As a project engineer manager, I am interested in the fellowship to enhance my professional and academic skills, establish connections and conduct research to ensure sustainable and reliable development in project management and engineering in my country. In addition, I hope to gain effective project planning skills to ensure that all my engineering, energy, vocational training, and mediation skills are relevant, reliable, and sustainable in future projects that solve human problems and enhances the country’s economic development.
