Feminist Difference & Barbara Christian, Research Paper Example

Research Paper

Both Barbara Johnson and Christian in their articles, the Race for theory and Is female to male as ground to figure aspire placing women outside of the usual box by insinuating  that literature and theory have defined gender according to roles sexes undertake in their life interactions  within  societies. Christian contends that modern thinkers push for theory because they try to nullify philosophical thinking. This thinking however, precedes the knowledge espoused directly as theory. Their arguments have been that philosophy has no scientific proof. When scientists/philosophers could successfully construct theory based on hypotheses assumptions, propositions and distinct concepts there is proof or evidence. Consequently findings could be classified scientific.

Johnson seems to have the same concern regarding how female and male are perceived base on the language culture used currently to define them. Women, men, black, white and culture are shaped through what is communicated in literature. Tradition and philosophy claps hands in the sense of ancestors telling stories, which were recorded.  Some as tales or fables. However they expressed culture, concepts and values of people. For Johnson it was black women. How in a twenty-first century society social scientists or experts studying the arts redefine black women roles through theorizing their origin within having a clue to their philosophical paradigms.

Here is where the misrepresentations are so obvious. The only way of convicting the ignorant public of these lies is to argue for science embodied in theory. Theory forms the ground of these fabrications. In this age everything must be proven through a science emerging by from persons who lack understanding of who are black women, what is gender (male/female). Philosophy is discarded and they look to theory for answers. The truth is that theory cannot explain everything and science does not prove everything too,
