Finding the Right Marriage Partner, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 472

Essay

Introduction

Finding the right marriage partner forms the foundation of successful family life. It may be the single most important decision in ones life as it determines who you live with for the rest of your life. The right partner may just be that childhood sweet heart who has always been at the back of your mind, or a total stranger that you meet for the first time while on a flight to a foreign country.

Finding the Right Partner

It is important that we put into serious consideration our choices for marriage. As stated above, it is not the timing that matters but who we choose. And the disagreements, prejudicial conclusions and peer opinion should not play a role as this is purely your own business. The first step in the choice of a marriage partner is the identification of what you want in such a person. Of course you want a fruitful future life without domestic problems. But this knowledge of what you want also entails who you are yourself and what you want to achieve in future.

When setting out on a selection for a partner, you need to have set your goals straight. What profession are you going to join in future, what is you religion, how do you plan to go about your life. Are you going to venture in politics, corporate sector etc? With such in mind and fully settled, it is now time to look at the kind of a partner you want. If you want to be a doctor, you may want to look for a doctor or a different profession. Then you also need to identify what character of a person you want. If you are a talkative person for example, you may want a cool and withdrawn kind of partner.

After setting the ideals of the partner you are looking for it is now time to go out and get them. These are the people you  study with, they are neighbors or the members of the church choir which you attend. And once you consider your behavior and mannerisms to be compatible, you may go ahead and propose a friendship. After scuh a friendship is accepted, it is time for both of you to bring out the above ideals that you have set out on your life and see if they agree. If ther are differences you may want to make compromises to ensure they are in agreement. Only ensure that you don’t enter into a relationship that could end in marriage unless the two of you have agreed on what both of you will do and how you will conduct your self in marriage. The other aspects of beauty and status are purely individual prerogatives but the above steps should apply in any case unless you plan to file a divorce immediately after the honeymoon.
