Today, planning for widespread emergency management involves having an “all hands on” approach to face obstacles that can be critical to the infrastructure. This includes being prepared for a wide variety disasters such as man-made, terrorists, natural disasters, structural collapses, and several others that will require the assistance of emergency and fire department services. Disasters frequently hit with limited or no warnings, and by definition they bring about vast scale demise, demolition, and mass mania. They regularly have enduring and huge scale emotional, political, and economic impacts. A disaster management plan involves the test of including the general population in readiness arranging. The absence of a successful management within an organization or infrastructure includes, shortcuts to emergency disaster management plans and inquiries encompassing the advancing authoritative structure of the emergency management of the organization that will impact the recovery. This became apparent in the in the early 90s and after 9/11 that the government specifically FEMA needed to adopt an all-hazards approach to disaster management. “That resulted in increased resources for natural hazards preparedness and mitigation programs and the development of the Federal Response Plan that coordinated the efforts of 27 federal agencies, and the Red Cross in support of state and local emergency managers.” (Haddow, Bullock 2003) Obstacles that need to be overcome if emergency administration exercises are to be effective in the years ahead are central the safety of everyone in the organization.
Disasters include boundless human, material, monetary or impacts on the environment, which surpass the capacity of the impacted society or community to adapt utilizing its own particular resources.Specific examples that organizations need to recognize in order to have the correct emergency service available includes;tsunami, earthquake, hurricane, blizzards, or other natural disasters. Fire administrations helps in these areas by helping stranded motorists, making trips to hospitals to move patients, moving large obstructions, helping stranded, and those who are trapped in the water. (USFA 2008) In the event of flooding which has caused billions of damage in combination with hurricanes, tsunami, and heavy rain, the fire administrations are faced with the challenges of increased rescue problems, damage to bridges, roads, and limited response, evacuating people, disruptions to utility services, and other damages. Failures to successful management includes the examples of Haiti, and in the US, Hurricane Katrina, in which over 1200 people lost their lives. (Haddow, Bullock 2003) Successful management in place will help to mitigate problems that will make rescue efforts more plausible.
Other non-fire disasters in which the fire administration services are imperative might be the result of a deliberate human act, for example, war, terrorism, bio-terrorism, or some yet unforeseen dangerous act. It involves improving the already implemented management in which was successful in man-made disaster as the Oklahoma City bombing, and other terrorist events. Lessons learned from 9/11 in which the fire administration was courageous on their first response in trying to rescue workers, pull people out the buildings, and putting out the fires. Shows how much joint operations, and communication between emergency response services are essential in successful in management of widespread naturals.
Organizations, local, state, and federal agencies must be well prepared for a plethora of disasters that can greatly impact numerous aspects of the infrastructure. Fire administration, as well as other emergency agencies are essential in being a part of a disaster management plan as they do more than put out fires. Fire administration works to rescue, respond, and try to mitigate problems that will arise when disasters occur. It is important to consistently evaluate and incorporate emergency services to be prepared for any disaster.
