1, The five themes of geography are location, place, human-environment interaction, movement and region. Location describes, as the name indicates, where particular geographic entities to be studied are found. Hence, location refers to either an absolute location, i.e., the precise longitude and latitude of the geographic entity, or relative, i.e., where the entity is located in relation to another entity. Place refers to the physical as well as human characteristics of the geographic location in question. Hence, in terms of the physical this may include topographical elements and geological formations, such as mountains, whereas in terms of the human, civilizational dwelling such as cities may be included. Human-environment interaction considers the relationship between to humans and their environment, and how the former may modify or conform to the latter, such as the construction of cities or oil rigs. Movement refers to how humans migrate and expand across geographical zones; in some senses it may also be used to refer to the movement of natural phenomena such as hurricanes. Lastly, region allows the geographer to split the world into various parts for the purpose of study. Region can take the form of human creations, such as nation-states or physical divisions such as the Eastern and Western hemisphere.

3, In terms of the aforementioned five themes of geography, relevant facts about Slovenia include:

• a) Location. 1) Slovenia possesses an absolute location in terms of longitude and latitude of 46° 07′ N and 14° 49′ E. 2) Slovenia has a relative location of being bordered by Croatia, Austria, Hungary and Italy. 3) Slovenia’s relative location can also be defined in terms of being bordered by the Adriatic sea in the west and by the Julian Alps in the north and center, and by the Pannonian basin in the east.
• b) Place. 1) Much of Slovenia is defined by the physical characteristics of the Julian Alps.

4, The highest point in Slovenia is Mount Triglav, which has a height of 2,864 meters. 3) Slovenia has an official population of 2,052,000.

• c) Human-environment interaction. 1) 30.32% of Slovene land (614,692 hectars) is used for agriculture. 2) A new unit of the Slovene thermoelectric plant Šoštanj is being built. 3) The largest urban center in Slovenia is the capital Ljubljana with a population of 272,000.
• d) Movement. 1) Students constitute almost one-seventh of Ljubljana’s population, suggesting that the capital is dynamic with a continuously new influx of residents. 2) Some of the top export goods of Slovenia include pharmaceuticals, motor vehicles, and electronic equipment. 3) There has been negative migration of Slovene citizens for over a decade, meaning more have emigrated from the country than immigrated to it.
• e) Region. 1) Slovenia is located in Central Europe. 2) Slovenia is a former republic of Yugoslavia, becoming an independent state in 1991. 3) Slovenia consists of seven traditional regions: Dolenjska (Lower Carniola), Primorska (the Slovenian Littoral), Inner Carnolia (Notranjska), Koroška (Carinthia), Prekmurje (Prekmurje), Štajerska (Styria), and Gorenjska (Upper Carniola).
