From a Nursing Perspective, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 315

Essay

From a nursing perspective, I have experienced a number of different challenges throughout my life that have been instrumental in shaping my experiences in the profession to date. The causes of different types of disease are significant; therefore, I must continue to expand my knowledge and understanding of these issues in favor of advancing my professional objectives and my support of improving patient care. I believe that nurses play a significant role in shaping the response to disease control and risk as related to different patient populations. I believe that there must be a greater understanding of the value that is placed upon patient care and wellbeing by nurses in order to identify specific risk factors that may contribute to disease and to be cognizant of the nature of disease in learning how to best prevent these challenges over the long term. I also believe that the nursing discipline plays an important role in shaping epidemiology because nurses have experience in working with patients who have experienced disease; therefore, the knowledge that has been acquired supports the ability to answer a variety of questions regarding the nature and causes of disease.

I believe that it is important for nurses to be cognizant of why disease states impact different people, and this reflects a greater need to acknowledge the demands of the practice environment in order to achieve the intended outcomes. Patient care requires an examination of the key principles that impact how nurses view elements of risk and must determine what is required to ensure that patients receive the best possible support on a continuous basis to promote greater prevention. At all nursing experience levels, it is the responsibility of professionals to examine methods of disease prevention and to recognize individual and group risk; therefore, this information offers a valuable perspective regarding disease that is crucial to answering the most important questions from an epidemiological perspective.
