Fuller’s Model in Healthcare Management, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 379

Essay

The success of project management on an organizational level depends on various factors. This is true in health care organizations as well. The below document will look at ways of implementing Fuller’s model into project level projects. The ten different factors that lead to the success of project implementation were republished by Merrill (2010) and Versel (2010) to support health care managers in implementing EHR projects.

Leadership and shared vision are important factors in creating an organizational culture that supports change and collaboration between different units within the health care organization. However, without organization level governance the project will not become structured and supported by decisions that make the implementation possible. Further, determining the responsibilities of stakeholders in the transformation has to be structured and governed. (Merrill, 2010) The organizational level allocation of human and financial resources to make infrastructure suitable for the change is also important. Still, clinical standardization, communication and realistic goals are also crucial in the plan. Finally, right vendor partnership and relationship is able to further support the goals of the organization. (Versel, 2010)

Fuller (2010) confirms that accountability and organizational leadership are essential to complete EHR projects. Within a health care team, the responsibilities need to be assigned and resources allocated based on the “four buckets” of success factors, relating to the right people, processes, change management plan and technology. (Versel, 2010) As an example published by Collins and Wise (2010, p. 5), excellence of electronic healthcare record quality and management can be achieved through effective leadership and accountability for training, support and goal setting, as well as constant monitoring and communication. Team collaboration should be supported by the leadership’s efforts to create a shared vision and culture.
