Review of Related Literature

Being one of the top automobile insurers in the United States, GEICO is deemed to be among the best performing entities in the country. Relatively though, it has been rated to be at the 13th position among 22 other automobile insurance companies in the US. In accordance with this, it should be realized that among its top competitors include AMICA Mutual Financial Services Group, the Liberty Mutual Assistance and the Hatford Financial Services Group. These competitions are specifically gaining a remarkable stance against the growth of GEICO in providing high-end insurance services to the industry’s target clients. In the research presented herein, it is expected that the correlative establishment of the new business structure to define GEICO’s operation would create a more responsive attraction from the clients as they appreciate the business offers of the organization. How then could GEICO gear up to the competition that it faces against other insurance entities in the industry? The tool suggested to be utilized by the business is that of the electronic network provision for its administrators and its clients to operate all at the same time. While GEICO does have its own website already, it could be considered that a definite interface development could still be enhanced so as to make the site more client-friendly (El Sawy, 2003) hence inviting more customers to invest on the policy that the company is offering.

In this literature review, a focus on Business IT alignment shall be given attention to as it is expected to make remarkable changes on how the organization operates. IT alignment calls for more than just providing the clients an online portal that allows them to connect with the company administrators any time of the day. Instead, it provides the target market with the necessary updates they need to know of, create a good condition of communication between the business and its partners as well as with its clients, and also impose on the new condition of completing transactions online with full security in focus (De Haes, 2008). Being able to commence with this approach intends to make a remarkable indication on how the company is able to serve their clients at best. Providing what the clients need is the utmost benefit that business IT-alignment could impose on the operations of the business.  In the course of furthering the competence of the business in handling operations that are defined to mark the reputation of the organization in the industry, GEICO could best benefit from adjust their approach to being profit-centered into becoming client-centered (Van Grembergen, 2009) hence inviting more policy investors who would bring them an increased level of revenue within the coming years of operation.
