Understanding the Spiritual Truths about God, Humans and Creation through the Book of Genesis

Science and the Bible are two particular elements that are seen by the human society to have no connection towards each other. This is the reason why the bible is seen to present the truth about God while scientific explanations seem to negate it. However, there is one aspect of issue that practically brings these two elements of belief in conflict, the question of where humans and all the other creatures come from. While the bible adheres to the occurrence of creation, science presents several theories that try to impose on how humans and all the other living things including the universe came to be. In the discussion that follows, a comprehensive look on how Genesis presents a more defining consideration on how the existence of humans, the living things and the universe came to be shall be tackled. Through argumentative evidences, three particular issues shall be discussed.

First to be discussed is that of the process of creation occurring within six days alone. Genesis 1: 31 reads: “After that God saw everything he had made and look! It was very good; and there came to be evening and there came to be morning, a sixth day”.  Reading on this passage of the bible alone, one would likely assume that God has indeed completed the creation within a six-day period alone. Considering the intricate design of every living creature that helps them to thrive fully, would it not be impossible for God to create all these matters in six days alone? Even though he is omniscient and omnipotent, it would require that he use “magic” to create such matters in such a short span of time. Nonetheless, through research it could be analyzed how Apostle Peter explained the indication that God’s one day is not equivalent to the one-day that humans know of. In 2 Peter 3:8 it reads: “However let this one fact not be escaping your notice, beloved ones, that one day is with God as a thousand years as one day”. True, from reading this, the scientific identification of the cosmic creation’s age to be a thousand years old already before humans came to be is well accounted for in the definition of God’s one day to be equivalent to a human’s thousand years. This makes the supposed “story” of creation accurate enough to define the occurrence of human life on earth after the creation of the all other elements in the cosmic universe and on earth.

Another argument that could be considered as part of Genesis’ representation on the existence of God is the contradiction that creation has with evolution especially on the part of human development. While evolution strongly imposes on the source of humans coming from small cells developing into a more complex being such as an ape towards becoming a human, the bible correlates the situation through pointing out that God specifically made humans according to his own image. In Genesis 1: 26, it reads: “Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness…”This line would strongly contradict the occurrence of evolution of man coming from the most basic form of a living thing becoming a more complex creation. While the bible provides clear identification on how humans were designed, evolutionists have found few-to-none existent evidences in the continuity of evolution as a theory of the existence of humans on earth (The Bulletin of Chicago’s Field Museum of Natural History).

Third argument to give attention to is the fact that each living creature has been designed accordingly with intricate details that science is still aiming to explain. If a mobile phone or any other non-living gadgets has someone who created it, would it not be logical to consider that there is someone who created the awesome universe and our awesome bodies as well? The specific design of earth and our body to sustain life in full satisfaction is pure evidence that no theory of chaos and illegitimate course of development in evolution could support.

True to its sense, Genesis provides a strong foundation of spirituality to all those who intent to know how God created matters, how he designed everything carefully to provide humans with the satisfaction that they need. Atheists along with non-believing scientists would of course convince more that their explanations are more vivid in consideration to providing understanding on the existence of humans, the universe and other living things. However, logic itself will convince those who are willing to understand that for such intricate designed matters to occur, a specifically intelligent and supreme creator should have been able to carefully put everything in place and make life possible on earth for humans in consideration with all the balance that occurs in the vast territories of the universe.
