Peace talks have become one of the most important issues that the world gives attention to especially in chaos-stricken regions like the Middle East. At present the Geneva Conference II has expanded the possibilities of furthering the said peace talks especially for the sake of assisting particular areas in the Middle East such as Syria to accommodate the options of development and modernity that the world is embracing today. However, to be able to do this, it is first important to make sure that the civil and the political situation in the country is rather stable and strong enough to contend with the international challenges of modern politics. To do this, the conference aims to end the Civil Syrian War that is occurring in the country; the same situation involves the Iranian political system largely. Currently, the first two rounds of peace talks and agreements have already been considered and completed, however neither specific rules nor resolutions have been completed yet, this is the reason why a third round of agreements are expected to be imposed accordingly.
The Iranian government has been invited to the occasion, at least to get their opinion and their acceptance of the Geneva I conference communiqué which stipulates that the Syrian government would accept the help of immediate members of the UN in resolving the issue through enforcing military procedures that the said members feel is necessary whenever they think it is necessary as so. The Iranian government did not want to approve such procedure. They see such a distinct process to be instill more chaos into the community than the supposed help it is supposed to establish towards the situation of the country at present. As a result, Geneva did not accept the invitation and decided not to attend the convention. Because of such decision, the representatives of Syria then decided to take the chance to attend the said conference.
Question is, should Iran actually be a part of the said conference considering that they are among the non-Syrian participants to the event. Considering the ACE Framework involving articulation, cogitation and evaluation, the Iranian involvement in the conference shall be assessed. In a way, the articulation process specifically points out that the clauses of interest that Iran has over the society of Syria is more political and economical rather than dedicated towards helping the country gain control of the situation. Being in a neighboring location, these two countries are noted to have specific cultures and traditions that are often the same; however, these similarities as particular points of convening that they have the same values shared as well. On the part of cogitation, it could be analyzed that the interests of Iran towards the Syrian territory should be measured accordingly before they are to be considered to be part of the process of helping the said community recover from the current chaotic stance they are under. For the option of evaluating the situation, it could be noted that such motives on the part of Iran might put the said government be biased specially measuring how the different statues of the said conference actually affects the entire condition of relationship they have with Syria and the resources it could provide them with rather than simply putting the welfare of the Syrian people as the priority of the process.
Noting these considerations and these understanding over the situation and the tension between the two countries involved, it could be understood that even though Iran had a supposed connection with Syria, the considerations over their motives on how the conference shall stand in benefit of their own national goals impose that their opinion and understanding of the situation may not be as helpful as perceived by the UN conference. Relatively, it is imposed then that their presence in the conference need not be enforced, instead, as decided by the United States and other members of the UN, they could attend the conference depending on whether or not they decide to.
