Pages: 3

Words: 808

Essay

George Armstrong Custer was murdered, along with other five associates of men in the 7th cavalry under his command, during the war of Little Bighorn in 1876. Custer was considered the John Belushi of the west point, also a trouble-maker who also graduated 34th among 34 and even accomplished a colossal gathering of 726 losses.

Black EIK took part in a well know war of Little Big Horn. Though Crazy Horse battled with the whites on the Rosebud River, it was only meant to hinder them from ambushing at the sun dance. During this period, the Indians only wanted to be left alone since they were, in the long run, on their native land. Feeling highly threatened, Black Elk migrated with his people towards a big camp close to the Little Big Horn River.

Hairy Chin dressed and even paints Black Elk as a bear to take part in a curing ceremony regarding Rattling Hawk, who was shot in the Hip at the war of the Rosebud the previous week. The Rattling Hawk is cured; hence Black EIK and also the other boys go swimming, later on, to wash off their paint.  As days went by, he gets hot and also goes swimming. As he swims, alongside his cousin while watering the horses nearby, they hear cries from different camps ride in and even notify that charger is advancing. EIK father commands him to take a gun to his brother, who also rode to join forces with the Hunkpapas, who took refuge in the woods, where the trooper shoots at them. The wail goes up that the Crazy Horse is approaching. The event is one of confusion with Indians, whites, as well as horses struggling with each other and also battling in the water. Black EIK is commanded to scalp a man who is down, and he shoots him right in the forehead. At a distance, Indian warriors are in a twist of dust; Custer has invaded from the north end. Black EIK to display to his mother his first scalp. The standing bear adds to the narration,: Sixteen years old during that period; he was in the Minneconjou camp, mainly the third from the south along the seven Indian camp across the Little Big Horn River. EIK had eaten and was even swimming when his father informed him to take care of the horses. He then saw Reno and his men riding towards the Hunkpapa camp immediately south of the Minneconjous.  EIK, his brother and also his uncle rides out to battle Custer’s troop coming from the north.  The war scene was so chaotic. There was a lot of Indians that Standing Bear says, “they need no ammunitions; the horse’s hooves would have done enough damage.”  The war continued till sundown when the Indians chased their soldiers into the hills. The battle resumed the next day when the Indians and also the soldiers shot at each other as the troop came out from the hill to obtain water. Ultimately the Indians rode back towards their camp when General Terry’s men came to the assistance of the survivors. The troops didn’t go after the Indians.

Iron Hawk, who was 14 years of age during that period, says, “I dressed and even painted myself for the war, armed with just a bow and an arrow.” He further tells of a Shyela Indian who was very frightened that the drove into the conflict in tight bullets firing at him, though the soldiers could not arm him. Iron Hawk indicates that he was very irritated while thinking about the Indian women and also the children who were so scared that he ended up beating to death a soldier he had shot. The Indian women closed in and started to strip the bodies of the soldiers who had been beaten and also retreated.  One of the troops acted to be dead, till the women attempted to castrate him. Forcing him to jump up and fight them, although they stabbed him and died.

Black EIK continued with the battle when he and other boys rode the site of war, shooting arrows to the wounded troopers. His cousin, Black Wasichu, was seriously wounded in the confrontation.  His dad and also EIk’s father were very annoyed that they butchered a white man.

In my opinion, the Little Bighorn assists me recounts the entire life of Cluster. It precisely drives home the effect and also the importance of the incidence compared to a tick-tock account, the experience to be conflict when I cut from Custer riding along the horizon. Stile wanted to offer the reader something relating to the experience of the people of America during that period, who eventually have to piece together what occurred within the months and also years which followed. Custer occasionally got himself out of the crisis with his skill in battle, till the Little Bighorn.
