Global Warming Assignment, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 295

Essay

“The act of burning coal and oil and natural gas releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.” (Carnegie Mellon University, 1994). On average this may change the atmosphere and the severity of the earth by changing the storms and the duration of the droughts. Other important changes that may occur may be man-made changes such as growing rice, cutting down forests and raising cattle. It is important to note if the climate changes so will the “heating and cooling use and the sea level.” (Carnegie Mellon University, 1994). Any large effect in the environment could have a huge impact on the sea life and the plant life. In order for us to reduce the climate change we should reduce the carbon dioxide to the atmosphere by burning less coal, oil and natural gas. Many plants and animals might not be able to adapt to the changing environment. People may want to make some changes to the ocean’s atmosphere in order to cut the costs to cool the earth but this is a rather controversial issue.

“With global warming on the increase and species and their habitats on the decrease, chances for ecosystems to adapt naturally are diminishing.” (Shah, 2010). John Cook has studied Climate Change and Global Warming and presented ten indicators of a human fingerprint on Climate Change. They are a “shrinking thermosphere, less heat escaping to space, cooling stratosphere, rising tropopause, less oxygen in the air, more fossil fuel carbon in the air, 30 billion tones of Co2 in the air per year, more heat returning to Earth per year and more fossil fuel carbon in corral.” (Shah, 2010).
