Essay

Climatic changes in most parts of the world have led to negative environmental and health outcomes. Though there have been increased crop yields, especially in temperate zones, such benefits have been overshadowed by increased rates of crop and livestock diseases. Shifts in temperature are prone to extend the range of mosquitoes spreading malaria.

Global warming is a complex problem that affects us all and requires multi-faceted collaboration to be stopped. The specific purpose to persuade my audience how they can make a difference in stopping global warming. Understanding what causes global warming and its effects on the planet is essential to develop ways and policies to stop it. Shifts in temperature are prone to extend the range of mosquitoes spreading malaria. Today, if ice in Greenland were to melt, sea levels would rise by 28 feet. People living in Florida whose highest point is 38 feet would all be submerged by water. Moreover, increased floods and hurricanes would contaminate our water supplies (Houghton, 2009).

Persuasive Speech Outline

Climatic changes in most parts of the world have led to negative environmental and health outcomes. Though there have been increased crop yields, especially in temperate zones, such benefits have been overshadowed by increased rates of crop and livestock diseases. People are their loved ones or property due to damages caused by floods and hurricanes.

I would like to share my insights and what I have learned about global warming, enlighten you about this menacing problem, including causes and effects, and discuss individual roles to help stop global warming. In my whole life, I have always been interested in nature, life, and science. Over the years, I have joined campaigns and done personal research by reading science materials and journals on the forces that affect our planet. Even today, I am still committed to finding solutions that can help mitigate global warming. It is responsible for each person on the planet to acknowledge global warming as a universal problem and find a way to deal with it. Let think about for a minute:

  1. Global warming is an increase in temperatures that raises the volume of water and sea levels.
  2. Causes of global warming
  3. Increased production of carbon dioxide from greenhouse emissions, rotting trees
  4. Pollution from factories
  5. Burning fossil fuels, coal, and natural gases

National Security

A report released by Pentagon indicated that climatic changes could have impacts on our national security. These climatic changes could make most parts of the world inhabitable, causing huge water and food shortages and eventually sparking massive migrations and war (Schlenker, Hanemann & Fisher, 2006).  2018 became the hottest year breaking a record held over 120 years.  Increased earth hotness correlates with water warmness, the hotter the water, the more severe the weather.

Increased severe hurricanes and El Nino rains

Last year, hurricanes affected most parts of the US and other North American regions, causing property and infrastructure damage. People also lost lives. Increased El Nino have forced fish to migrate from usual spots and dive deeper to search for food. This has affected the fishing industry due to severe effects on fish habitat. Forecasts show that at least two-thirds of polar bears’ habitats would be lost by the end of the next 100 years.

Individually, we can make choices that are climate-friendly, whether by using the right fuels and energy-efficient appliances. Since we cannot all buy efficient or feasible automobiles, here is what we can do:

  1. We can replace incandescent bulbs with fluorescent bulbs
  2. Plant more trees

Manage our waste disposal

  1. Cover our pots while cooking
  2. Use air conditioners instead of air filters
  3. For those with factories, use scrubbers to clean air before emitting it to reduce greenhouse emissions.

Global warming is a serious problem whose impacts have severe effects on the well-being of this planet, and it is an individual responsibility to stop it. Whether or not you believe global warming is a huge problem that faces this planet right now, its effects are undesirable. We should all join efforts to combine this problem.
