My prime goal from this lesson is to obtain an improved understanding of the gang culture in the USA.  The ability to understand the reasons and rationale for violence in our society today.  My secondary goals were threefold:  (i) What makes a person enter a gang culture? With  consideration of sociological and psychological influences. (ii) What are the different categories (types) of gangs and the geographical location of same? (iii) How are gangs being addressed in terms of juvenile and street crime ( the highest % groups) and how might the criminal aspect be addressed?

I now have a better understanding of the prime goal.  The largest gang groupings related to juvenile gangs and street gangs.  Most of these are centred in the large Cities e.g. LA, Detroit, New York and have a direct correlation to poverty and poor social standards. Many of the juveniles are repeat offenders and because the system is inadequate they are simply released back into their environment where the crime lists develop to more serious problems.  This is not a law enforcement or police problem but a social issue that needs to be resolved by the Federal Government.  It was not possible to determine how the resolution of these crimes would be resolved because adequate policies are not currently in place.

Syndicated Crime like that of drug trafficking, money laundering etc is an international problem with which the Federal Government co-operates with other law enforcement agencies throughout the world.
