God’s Existance, Essay Example

Essay

Religion is generally defined as the belief in a supernatural power or powers that includes a standard set of practices and traditions done to please the deity being worship. Religion determines what can or cannot be done in a given situation so that the deity being worship will not be offended by the action a person will do. While many people believe in God’s existence because of Religion, there are still people who doubt it and even question the very idea of a supreme being. According to the article written by Kurt Gray, people believe in the idea of god because the need someone to blame or hold accountable for all unexplainable moral events that happen in their lives. This means that when something happens that is beyond the people’s ability to comprehend or understand, that event is immediately attributed to god or any supernatural power. This belief puts the Existence of God in a questionable stand as that belief also implies that God Existence is dispensable if the people can put reason to anything that happens to them.

Many people believe that God Exists and his existence is not just a creation of the people so that they have someone to whom they can attribute unexplainable events with. God’s existence is proven and supported by the fact that everything in this world is carefully made and arranged in a way that the entirety of the world is able to support life.  This same argument is discussed in William Paley’s article. In that article, the author studied the parts and mechanisms of a watch. He enumerated all the arguments he has as to why the existence of the watch is not base on a mere coincidence, rather it is made and created by someone. According to Paley, “There cannot be a design without a designer; contrivance without a contriver… subservience of means to an end, relation of instruments to a use, imply the presence of intelligence and mind”. Moreover, the statement forms a good supporting argument to the belief that God does exist.
