Google: Organization Recommendations, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 297

Essay

Google is a big company, and every other flourishing technological company keeps an eye on it. To maintain these standards, there are three major recommendations they ought to put in practice more especially in the improvement of their structure and culture organization.

  • Google should find an alternative approach to handling the shared value culture. Shared value culture produce norms that govern the behavior. Behavior results in punished or reinforced outcomes, thus bolstering culture. However, this brings in the issue that any culture, negative or positive, becomes difficult to change and self-reinforce, which is quite dangerous. The cultures ought to be very flexible.
  • Google should develop a ladder of hierarchy in management. The transparency across the company management is recommendable, but the accompanying limitations also need consideration. The lack of hierarchy contributes to the absence of people vested with critical decision-making tasks. Google has a structure for functionality and operations and not power show. With this, highly powered managers would hesitate to give wise and constructive decisions, as they feel under graded. There should be a hierarchy for order, where one leader takes full responsibility of a sector, gives direction in certain cases that demand such actions, and takes blame for any arising problems.
  • Google should restrict freedom to some extent. Freedom is an exemplary practice that should employ in organizations to make employees feel at ease. However, too much of freedom is more likely to bring in controversies in the future where employees will take advantage of the freedom to bleach rules governing the company. This approach needs consideration from a very intelligent approach so that its occurrence takes a slower shift without employee’s recognition.

Google is an outstanding global organization whose growth is unquestionable. However, taking into account the above three considerations would be an assurance for an ascertained future.
