Graduation Night, Essay Example

Essay

I was so exhilarated by my graduation that I could not think properly. During the proceedings, I kept thinking how my studies at Fleming Island High School had been. I remembered how I liked my lecturers; how I liked my friends and how I would to miss them. At the same time I was so happy during the occasion and felt how a different person Fleming Island High had changed me to.

After the normal proceedings had been concluded, I joined my friends to final goodbye organised by the school. Our families and friends were so happy of our achievement.

One of my friends in the lower grades had carried his basket ball. While we were leaving he requested me to drop him at his place on my way home. I accepted and requested him to get into the car. Out of excitement, he threw the ball at another car. The ball hit the front windscreen of that car which made the driver of that other car loose control and bumped onto the side bar of the road. I was so afraid and drove very fast to ensure that we were not caught in case the driver was following us. After driving for close to five kilometres, I was relieved that there was no one following us. So I relaxed and drove slowly. After some minutes I saw a car on the rear view side mirror that was approaching at a break neck speed. I reacted fast enough and accelerated the car forward; I almost lost control of the car.

The faster I drove, the faster the driver in the car behind us came after us. I headed straight towards the Green Cove Springs. I could see the car behind on the rear view side mirror following us. At Green Cove Springs, I turned towards Middleburg hoping that I would loose him.  The car behind us seemed to fly compared to the speed of my Nissan Titan. I was sure that after some times he would catch up with us. I prayed that he would get a puncture and get delayed to allow us to disappear.

At Middleburg, I turned and drove towards the Florida City centre. The car behind was closing on us so fast that my friend started shaking. The fuel indicator on my car was also indicating empty. The car got so close that I could see the man behind the wheel was elderly with a huge white beard. Fortunately I drove past a trailer and as soon as we had completely passed, the trailer driver swerved it to the middle of the road blocking the on coming car.  This enabled me to lengthen the distance between us. After driving for two kilometres, I saw a fuel pump and immediately got to the pump. I was able to fuel my car before the chasing car could be seen within the vicinity.

As I rejoined the highway, I suddenly saw the car that was chasing us. This time the driver was on cell phone. I did not think why he was on the phone and at the same time driving; all I wanted was to loose the guy. So I drove straight ahead and some how managed to leave the guy. However this time the guy was only trailing behind; he seemed not interested in passing us. After driving for about three kilometres, I saw a police road block that was approximately a hundred meters ahead. I got so confused and could not coordinate well. I wanted to reverse and turn back but was in a highway and there was a guy trailing behind us. So I mustered courage and drove on. At the road block, a tall policeman raised his hand. I came to a screeching halt just next to the road block. The man chasing us had closed on us completely and without being asked to halt his car, he stopped behind us. Only then did I realise that it was a police car that had been following us.
