Greenfield Community College, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 335

Essay

I am writing to express my interest in the position of adjunct faculty in the field of Special Education. I have the requisite educational experience for the position, and I also believe that my life experiences make me uniquely qualified to teach the subject matter. Of particular interest to me was the pronouncement of Greenfield Community College’s commitment to multiculturalism and domestic diversity. I have experience teaching special education students in Saudi Arabia, and I speak both English and Arabic. I also believe that my educational and personal experiences and background may make me particularly suited for the position of adjunct faculty in Special Education.

I am vision-impaired, which has presented both challenges and opportunities as I have worked to earn my Bachelors and Masters Degrees. I have had the opportunity to learn firsthand what students with disabilities face in the educational context, and I have also learned how to overcome the challenges posed by my disability both through personal perseverance and with the aid and assistance of the many inspiring teachers, professors, and other educators I have met along the way. It is my goal to inspire my own students I the same manner as I have so often been inspired, and to impart the practical lessons I have learned so that my students will excel when they enter the field of Special Education.

I am currently enrolled in a PhD program related to vision impairment and education; I have already earned my Masters in Special Education. In addition to my educational accomplishments, I have amassed a fair amount of practical experience in the field, working as a teacher for students with various levels of vision impairment. While I am proud of my accomplishments, I also recognize that the realm of Special Education encompasses an array of techniques, approaches, and disciplines, and I am confident that I can bring my personal and educational experiences to bear to help equip students for the challenges they will face as teachers and instructors in the field of special education.
