Diaper Indicator Alarm

Discuss the type of product the company will offer and identify its primary characteristics

The name of the product is Change Time, and it is a diaper indicator alarm for disposable diapers. Diapers have been used as far back as the history of mankind, and there is an ongoing need for this product since babies do not stop coming (“Disposable Diaper History”, 2006). These days, it is more common for a baby to make use of a disposable diaper; some of these diapers come with indicators to be able to tell if the diaper is full already (“Diaper Visual Indicator”, 1999). There are visual indicators for these, although sometimes a parent or caregiver does not notice the indicator until the baby starts crying already, and this can lead to unwanted rashes.

The company Happy Babies has come up with an innovative way to tell whether a diaper is already full, this can be simply clipped on the bottom of one of the legs of the diaper material. The indicator comes with an alarm which the parent or care giver can place in his or her pocket, clip on to a shirt or even connect to a baby monitor. When the diaper is almost full, or full enough, the alarm will go off and the parent or care giver can change the baby’s diaper even before the baby starts crying to avoid unwanted rashes.

This offers parents or caregivers a new way to be able to tell if a diaper needs changing, it is more efficient and it can give accurate results. This can come very useful if the parent or caregiver is doing something, if the baby is wearing clothes which may cover visual indicators or if the baby is in the stroller and the parent or caregiver cannot directly see the diaper. If ever the baby is crying already, and the indicator is going off, you would be able to tell straight away what the problem may be, and you can fix it a lot faster than playing the guessing game.

Discuss the product branding strategy

The product will be marketed through baby product stores, where the company will tie-up with known stores who provide products for the baby industry. This will be done together with on-line and television advertisements. The reputation of the product will be monitored on-line, and lucky parents will get first-hand testing on the effectiveness of the products. These parents will then write their reviews, the reviews will be posted on parenting sites as well as stores which sell baby products.

The Change Time diaper indicator alarm can be sold with Happy Baby diapers, and it can also work with other diaper brands. The product will be marketed in a way where it shows a direct solution to problems parents may be having when it comes to being able to tell when their babies need changing. The start-up of the product marketing may be difficult at first because some parents may think that they do not need it, however with a few good reviews, the product will get going and be able to sell.

The baby product industry is an industry which will never collapse since there will always be babies. Additionally, parents are always looking for ways which make taking care of their babies more efficient, as well as making sure their babies are comfortable at all times. Change Time offers both of these to parents, and will ensure a happy baby, and happy parents at all times.

Discuss how the product fits within a product line and the depth and breadth of the line

The product fits within the product line of diaper, and baby changing essentials. These are things like changing tables, diaper bags, nappy creams, baby wipes and other needs of a baby when it comes to changing and hygiene. There are a number of essentials in this line for a baby, and parents want to makes sure that their baby is well taken-care of in this aspect. This line refers to the hygiene of their child, and parents want to ensure that their babies are germ free and always comfortable.

This product is a revolution for this product line and offers not only an efficient way to be able to tell when a baby’s diaper needs changing; it also offers an opportunity for other products within the line to sell. For example, the Change Time diaper indicator alarm can come in a bundle package with a pack of disposable diapers and cleaning products for the baby. These cleaning products are things such as baby wipes and nappy cream. Or, the Change Time diaper indicator alarm can come in a package with a baby diaper bag which comes with a travel baby changing matt. These are things parents would be looking for, and are things which their babies would need.

This line extension adds to the already broad product line for the baby changing needs in the product industry. This line is something which parents would go to next after baby feeding essentials. You cannot overlook hygiene when taking care of a baby, and there are a lot of products in this line; all of which Happy Baby offers parents and caregivers.

Explain how the product and target market strategies fit with the organizational strategy

The overall organization strategy of Happy Babies is to provide parents with more efficient ways of taking care of their babies while they are doing other tasks around the house. Parents are always on-the-go with their babies, and sometimes small things such as being able to tell whether a diaper is full yet can save a lot of time, and a lot of tears. Happy Babies wants to give parents more comfort in this area, also giving them the peace of mind that their babies are as comfortable as they can be.

Change Time diaper indicator alarm is targeted for parents or caregivers who spend time with their babies yet do chores around the house; this applies to almost all stay-at-home-moms. This product gives them the peace of mind that their babies are comfortable, and when changing is needed it can be done before the baby starts crying or a rash starts to irritate the baby.

Change Time diaper indicator alarm can be for first time parents, to parents taking care of a lot of children. These parents would want to save time by knowing whether their baby needs changing before he or she starts crying. Also, this saves the baby from uncomfortable irritation caused by a wet diaper. This product which is aimed at parents of all ages and races may be more attractive to those of a middle class to high class social status; others may consider it more of a luxury than a necessity. However, these parents would be willing to spend a lot of money to ensure that their baby stays as clean and as comfortable as possible, without having to check on their baby every few minutes.

This product fulfills Happy Babies’s overall market strategy by giving parents a faster way of telling that their babies need changing, which gives parents peace of mind and comfort in taking care of their babies’ hygiene. Additionally, this product can widen the product line of Happy Babies in the baby changing essentials department. This can lead to more sales in the line, and a greater focus on needs in connection with baby hygiene and comfort.
