Has the World Changed for the Better or the Worse, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 308

Essay

It is self-evident that through the passage of time the world has undergone many changes both for the good and evil of times. Some changes though good at the time have proven to be the demarcation of mankind such as the invention of guns and ammunition, the invention of electricity, the invention of the car and many more. During the seventeenth and eighteenth century times were very simple and families were close knit and loving. Families lived by candlelight and ate dinner together every night and treasured the time they shared together. They took journeys via horse and buggy, though long, but they appreciated the journey itself.

Today with the invention of the car, people travel long journeys and can visit anywhere they want to but do not appreciate the value of traditional family life as they did years ago. They take for granted the simple things in life like a dinner with the family, a walk in the park or a simple act of chivalry. The invention of guns and ammunition has been around for years but the rate of crime has increased tremendously through the centuries due to the guns getting in the hands of the criminals or outlaws in monopolies.

Where has our country and people gone wrong? People have lost the basic concept of what is virtuous and pure. They have forgotten what is sacred and true. The little things that used to be of so much value have perished and been long forgotten and taken over by a truly materialistic society. Materialism cannot bring happiness, not forever and deep happiness. Happiness comes from within and through love and joy that families share. People must go back to the basics-family, values and love!
