Having Haden Turner, Essay Example

Pages: 3

Words: 716

Essay

I can remember when I found out that I was pregnant with my son Haden, it was a very emotional and very joyous occasion for me. In the moment, I stopped and thought to myself, I’m going to be a mommy. Every single time I got a moment to sit down and think about the situation at hand, I got so excited; all the things that I’m going to teach him, all the things that he’s going to have etc. It was a very joyous time for me because the moment that I’ve longed for is now becoming a reality, it can be said that the high point of my pregnancy was when I found out that I was having a boy which really surprised me.

Incidentally, I had always heard that being pregnant was a cakewalk as long as there were no complications with the pregnancy but I was not worried about complications because I was just happy about being pregnant and above all, getting the chance to be a mother which is what I always wanted to be. Whenever I would met with and hang out with some of my family members, they always told me that I was glowing; they have never seen a pregnant woman so happy before because other women in my family were not so happy during their pregnancy but they were surprised that I was. Even though most women who have babies have their fair share of fears and discrepancies about the experience, pregnancy can be a scary time in a woman’s life but that does not mean that it has to be. Pregnancy is a special time in a woman’s life where she gets to experience the miracle of childbirth which is definitely a very rewarding experience, what is not rewarding, the pain and cramps.

Several weeks passed and going through painful kick after painful kick, I got to a point where I began to see how so many women can end up unhappy during their pregnancy; getting kicked by the baby hurts. It can be argued that kicks from the baby are not really hard enough to resonate any real pain in a woman, I assure you that’s false as I found that out the hard way. There were times where I felt like I could not get any sleep or rest of any kind because Haden would kick me, I felt like he was just doing this to get mommy’s attention; well, he got it. There were times where I felt like I would never have a day of not getting kicked by Haden. Haden’s father and I prepared for the coming of the birth little by little by stocking up on diapers and wipes not to mention towel covers to protect ourselves from getting peed on. I at once thought that being pregnant would be a time I would enjoy, but now I’m just ready for it to be over and done with. I got my wish when I went into labor and it was time for Haden to be born, all the time that I was pushing and pushing to get him out, I was thinking to myself “oh God, this pain is practically unbearable”. Shortly thereafter, Haden was born and I was told by my family about ways that I can strengthen the mother son bond between Haden and I, I was told that talking to him as I was walking around with him was one way that I could do that because even though he could not quite understand what I was saying, he felt the bond that I was creating between us.

In summary, I learned a lot about being pregnant and the so called “joys” of being pregnant, and I also feel and have felt exactly how being pregnant can be the best time in a woman’s life one minute then it turn into a complete nightmare the next minute. I can say beyond reasonable doubt that this experience has taught me to expect the unexpected, pregnancy is a cakewalk in its own way but it still has its fair share of pain; the endgame was worth it for me because I have my beautiful baby boy Haden Turner who I would not trade for anything in the world. I’ve never been happier.
