Health Benefits in 2008, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 345

Essay

The use of insurance in the United States has contributed to many positive outcomes for families. Prior to the implementation of a health care system that utilizes medical insurance, many families have been able to cover the costs of their own care (HIAA Insurance Education, 1995). Under this new system, hospitals are able to make more money to compensate for the costs of wages and technology, while families are able to receive the care that they deserve. Most insurance programs have special deals for families, in which additional family members and children could be added to the plan either free of charge or for a small fee. This is beneficial because it allows parents to understand that their costs of their children’s care will always be covered (Claxon et al., 2008). This is essential knowledge in the field of obstetrics because many women need to understand how to add their children to their insurance after they are born. Although this is not a complicated process, providing families with this information is important because it will better ensure that their babies are able to receive regular health care visits as a consequence of their involvement in these plans.

Overall, adding newborn children to a family’s health insurance is important because it is recommended that infants undergo regular care during the first several months and years of their lives. Without insurance coverage, this could be costly. Furthermore, forgoing these visits will negatively contribute to the health of the children because they will not receive important vaccinations and other forms of health monitoring. It is clear that the use of health insurance in the United States is beneficial because it allows families to gain access to much needed care for both themselves and their children.
