Health Screenings – List only 3 steps or activities involved in this Health Screening process.

Three activities involved in the health screening process include making an appointment for the health screening; verify one’s identification; sign consent forms that it is a consenting process; complete medical paperwork; the patient has his or her vital signs checked prior to tracing his or her medical history; and collect specimens such as rine or blood for assessment.

Prevalence in the study and U.S. general population- List only 2 health statistics.

The prevalence of individuals who were at risk for coronary heart disease for over ten years is less than 20%. 44% of those who were screened smoked tobacco, which was an elevated percentage.

Undiagnosed, untreated, and unsuccessfully treated conditions- Which screening statistic stands out to you? List only one diabetes, high blood pressure or cholesterol?

The cholesterol statistic stands out. Among the twenty eight participants who were positive for elevated cholesterol levels, a fourth of them reported that they were negative for hyperlipidemia.

Discussion- Briefly stated the value of having “Peer Health and Wellness Specialist” (Peer Health Navigators) involved in the health screening process.

The Peer Health and Wellness Specialist has currency within the health screening process because they are the ones who give recommendations to patients regarding  how to modify their lifestyles in order to enhance their health and well-being. These are conduits within the healthcare system who are charged with the responsibility to educate patients in order to promote health and wellness.

List only one of the issues that got your attention.

This clip addresses the prevalence of administering psychotropic medication, which raises the issue of whether or not they are effective. One of the issues that caught my eye in this clip was that psychotropic drugs act as a band-aid for other underlying problems  even if they resolve the target system in a relatively short amount of time in comparison with the effects of placebos.

List only one interest about Common Ground.

One interest about Common Ground in this clip is that it is a seminal development in preventative medicine utilizing current technologies. It helps prepare medical personnel prior to a patient’s appointment so that when  the patient is in the examination room medical personnel are prepared to work and collaborate with the primary physician. Doing so ensures that the most optimal decisions are rendered with regards to course of treatment and recovery.
