Healthcare policy models and framework

The healthcare policy model that will be discussed in this review pertains to leadership. It has been expressed by many experts of healthcare leadership that there are many challenges facing the discipline with respect to adaptation of appropriate leadership styles, which are specifically beneficial to healthcare delivery practice. Trastek, Hamilton and Niles (2014) have advocated a servant leadership model, which is considered most valuable to health care  in the twenty-first century. These researchers contend that in the presence of managed care polices healthcare leaders are often required to execute leadership abilities that go beyond their call of duty for the policy to work efficiently in their organizations (Trastek, Hamilton & Niles, 2014).

Managed care polices extend to various levels and specifications in the healthcare  delivery environment. Essentially, the policy has been identified as an acute type of quality care rationing within the system. In my environment it influences the quality of obstetric care mothers receive during their pregnancy. The obstetrician had to be selected based on the particular insurance coverage. Mothers who do not have health insurance and are compelled to utilize Medicaid services their visits to an obstetrician are limited during the pregnancy (Rosenbaum, 2015).

The policy was designed to reduce health care costs, but has actually compromised its quality to certain sections of the healthcare environment. Servant leadership model under the managed care policy regulation,  as argued by experts would strengthen team work; sensitize stakeholders into improving quality of care and lead patients into demanding that quality of care their resources are taken to pay for. This intervention has the potential of enabling more women to access quality maternal care (Trastek et.al, 2014).
