Of all the differences that men and women exhibit, perhaps the strongest difference of all is that of love: women and men react differently to one another when they fall in love and/or stay in love in that women are as emotional as emotional gets while men think more logically.  So as to examine the ratio of romantic experiences in comparison to the ages in which they occur, a sociologist named William Kephart questioned younger college students and found that in relationships, the similaritiesbetween men and women are similar in almost every way; Kephart had found that women, despite depictions in media as weaker and able to put up with less, were the more realist of the two sexes and were more likely to think logically in matters of love than men and the basic principle of the entire reading was that men and women are often not as they are depicted in works of fiction and the media as a whole when it comes to matters of love.

To sum up the studies done on men and women, it can be concluded that while media portrayals depict images in terms of love and gender, these images are simply exaggerations fueled by ancient gender roles, and on the whole, I would be inclined to agree with the findings in that men tend in the current age to be more of the romantic gender when it comes to love in that they see it less as a role to be filled (as they are shown in media portrayals) and more as a privilege and a joy to have in life, while women, understanding that male-ruled media portrayals are the dominant means of depicting genders, are much more logical and realistic in both expectations and ideals.  Men, it seems, are more passionate than women on certain issues in love: one example being the case of a man in a relationship that meets another man which his wife or girlfriend gets on with well on a social level; it is certainly likely that the husband/boyfriend will be more likely to become defensive in the situation.  The husband/boyfriend may not fear his wife showing more interest in the other man, but a deep-seated instinct for that man to protect his mate might appear in any number of ways: this is often referred to by some as jealousy.

A notable concept in folklore about women is the concept that they are relentless and will stop at nothing to get what they desire, this ideal being portrayed many times in fiction as a negative quality.  Women, as truth would have it, do, in fact, tend to seek out the best potential male figure when seeking a husband or boyfriend, and show the greatest interest, typically, in the one that is most likely to be a good provider, which they tend to seek out with real intent; Kephart, however, went on to note in his study that a third of the women he interviewed would happily marry whichever man that possessed the qualities that women found most desirable, even if they did not love that man.  Similarly, women in western beliefs are thought of

As stated earlier, the notion of man being the stronger gender is a theme that has appeared many times over in folklore and media portrayals: from ancient Greek heroes slaying beasts to Civil War soldiers surviving for the woman they love, men have been depicted many times throughout culture as the stronger gender in that they seem to be able to deal with much more on an emotional level.Kephart’s study on the male reaction to love showed that men are much more romantic in that they view the more poetic view points of love.

Finally, Kephart found that the myths of women being more romantic and men being the stronger gender wereestablished throughout centuries in various cultures as truths but in reality, given a change of gender roles in modern society, these roles have since been altered, and men have become the more passionate of the two, while women, perhaps due to years of being viewed as the weaker of the two, have since tended to be more analytical in their beliefs on love.
