Essay
  1. In the opinion of Marinetti, syntax represents the chains for free expression of ideas and emotions, the limit that is stipulated for normative language that is bound to some conventions, rules and regulations thus losing the initial meaning, the strength of words. The author calls the reader to understand this absence of necessity to structure words and phrases according to the principles of syntax that would bind the measures of their expression. Orthography is also the deliberate measure created to put people into the jail of conventions that would not let them speak freely.
  2. Marinetti is sure that the freedom without strings that a person can experience while constructing his or her speech, be it written or spoken, is possible only under the condition of eliminating conventional syntax norms. The author ensures that the normative, conventional syntax is the negative phenomenon that does not allow the speaker to get to the essence of material and to cover the gist of what he or she was intending to say. Marinetti calls the reader to add more feeling, more vibration to the language by mixing the functions of parts of speech, by destroying the syntax thus giving the new strength to the words pronounced.
  3. Since Marinetti, as a Futurist, offers the style of writing that would bring many more emotions and sensations to the idea covered in a verse, he has worked out a new style of writing called multilinear lyricism – this is an innovative structure that is aimed not at the structure itself, but on the meaning thus declining the sense and meaning of syntax and orthography on the whole. The style is called multilinear because the writer creates a set of lines simultaneously, i.e. a historical, musical, color line etc. This way, as Marinetti argues, is able to communicate much more artistic strength and meaning with newly built analogies and will bring word freedom that was so desired by Futurists.
  4. The essence of Depero’s manifestation of art was his vision of advertising as a means of communicating aesthetics to the common public, of expressing the art and the beauty to people. He also thought that art initially was the tool for sales and advertising and stated that in fact people who produced good works of art were successful sellers. Fortunato Depero also found the elements of advertising in ancient works of art which he saw in the cultivation of thrones, dresses, drapery etc. Their shouting, visual luxury made people want a similar life, thus making them react to the advertisement they saw. The same way, at the present period of time a good ad is first of all the work of art – people see a well-staged ad or a stylish picture thus perceiving it not as an ad but as something more than a product. They feel that it is the style of life, the prestige etc.
