What will be the impact to your agency if this patient isseen twice a week for 3 months?

If this patient is seen twice per week for three months it will be $130 X 24 since one month has approximately 4 weeks and 3 months entails a minimum of 12 visits once per week. Twice weekly visits double the cost. The total financial impact is approximately $3+ thousand dollars instead of a little over $1,500. The issue here is if the client has Medicaid or Medicare coverage to offset this extra cost incurred for his care. My agency will have to investigate how much he could qualify for under these circumstances(Department of Elder Affairs,  2014). (Agency for Health Care Administration, 2014).

How can you recover the lost revenue?

If the patient is over 65 he would be covered by Medicare and another Advantage plan which could entitle him to these additional services. In such as case my agency could access those services for re-imbursement. Another approach is if my agency is non-profit it could be recovered in taxes. Also if the patient is on Medicaid only then my agency could ask Medicaid to cover the extra cost (Agency for Health Care Administration, 2014).

How can you make each visit less costly and stillmeet the needs of the patient?

If a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is making these visits and it costs the agency $130 per visit; the same services could be offered by a nurse’s aide who could assist the client in self-administering the insulin; supervise blood sugar testing; assist in personal hygiene and house hold chores which may be necessary.
