Honor the Customs and Traditions of a Country, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 293

Essay

It is important for all organizations to honor the customs and traditions of a country when working on an international project. Firstly, it is important to understand the culture of individuals in a business setting because it will increase communication between the organization and the foreign group. More specifically, this will allow the foreign organization to understand that their collaborators fully understand the basis of the project and how this fits into their cultural context. This is often useful because the culture of the foreign organization may help develop an understanding about the particular product being produced in addition to the wants and needs of the target group.

A second factor that is important to consider when honoring the customs and traditions of a foreign country when working on an international project is the unique experiences and ideas that this team can bring to the home organization. People of a certain cultural background, such as those living in the United States, tend to think somewhat similarly when handling marketing and business. It is therefore refreshing to learn the ideas of those living on other countries who share different points of view. If these ideas should be incorporated the collaboration will be more likely to succeed.

Ultimately, it is important for organizations to thoroughly research the customs and traditions of their foreign collaborators when beginning an international project. It is essential to avoid offending their foreign partners and the organization could use this understanding of their society to ensure that they bring maximal benefit to the project. However, this works in the opposite direction as well; the international collaborator should attempt to honor the customs and traditions of the home organization as well. If this is done, the teams in both countries will work well together.
