Essay

An iPhone has a complex process of functionality that requires users to understand the basic forms of its operations. The iPhone is an improvement on earlier versions of cell phones, it has a number of features and applications integrated into one mobile device that enhances the overall functionality of the phone. The functionality and appearance of the phone is synonymous with the palmtop computer. The iPhone audiovisual applications are integrated with the various forms of communication applications that enhance image sharing over communication channels. The phone functions through the flipping of an onscreen image using a human finger. The phone performs the universal roles of the smartphones (Wilson, 4). It is used for making and receiving phone calls and listening to music. The phone is additionally useful where an individual would like to access the internet. The device has an additional capability that permits individuals to transfer photos from the computer to the phone for sorting using special software.

The development of the two types of iPhones with different features has offered consumers with two choices to make while purchasing an iPhone. The two differ with regard to the applications installed and the functionality of the phones besides the different prices. The operating system enhances the capability of the interaction of an individual with every application on the iPhone. The phone has been integrated with a type of technology that controls power and security. The operating system provides individuals with the multitasking capability, a feature that is exhibited by laptops and PCs (Wilson, 2). The mode of the functionality of the iPhone is based on the detection of the input by the electronic devices. Some of the parameters measured as inputs include:

  • Deviation in the electric current
  • Reflection of waves
  • Changes in vibration resulting from the movement of the fingers over the screen

Two critical areas are considered when analysing the functionality of the iPhone. These fields include:

  • The touch screen
  • Interpretation of the touch screen

The functional process of the touch screen and the interpretation of the same involve:

  • The touch screen
  • Placing a finger on the display prompts the parametric changes that are being monitored by the device.
  • Light waves are blocked or reflected by the finger causing a change in the state that is being monitored.
  • Interpretation of the touch screen

The processor and the program play a role in the interpretation of the information that is fed into the smartphone. This is how the processor analyses the input information.

  • The parametric signal reaches the processor in the form of electrical pulses.
  • The processor evaluates the information concerning the data type such as the size and location of the touched area using an integrated program.
  • The processor employs the use of the gesture evaluation program to verify the gesture that has been made. This is achieved by combining the finger motion with the information regarding the application.
  • The processor transmits the results of the information to the software. The processor, out of necessity may additionally initiate a response mechanism that enhances the functionality of the iPhone (Wilson, 6).

The functionality of the iPhone is a complex process whose understating requires the evaluation of the different hardware and program features of the iPhone. The processor plays an essential role in the interpretation of the iPhone.
