How Can You Promote Environmental Sustainability? Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 247

Essay

The concept of sustainability is based on the principle that everything necessary for human survival is dependent on the environment. This inevitably means that a healthy environment will lead to extended human life on Earth while scarcity of natural resources may cause extinction. Several steps have been taken by governments and private corporations to maintain the environment. Many states have a recycling program and some territories have moved to eliminate plastic shopping bags in hopes of preserving the Earth. While not as significant as an entire city going Green, the small steps that I take to assist in environmental sustainability come with great rewards.

As a resident of a Green community I recycle often. Although I do not personally deliver used cans and bottles to sites, I participate in the process by saving and bagging recyclables for delivery. While not often viewed as a significant way to save the planet recycling preserves hundreds of natural resources every year. In addition, reusing products decreases pollution making it unnecessary to have several of manufacturing plants in one concentrated area.

I also purchase organically grown goods whenever feasible. Although such action may seem small in nature the impact proves great when financing from customers like myself assists is bringing more wholesome fruits and vegetables to grocery stores. Not only do fresh goods help you live longer but they also assist in the fight against pollution. Every farm that harvests and distributes crops is one less pollutant factory that produces chemically induced items.
