How Did You View the Role of Nursing? Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 344

Essay

As for myself, I would call this part of this educational journey as the point of enlightenment. I have realized during this first week that there are different concepts about nursing that I know of but I may not be fully aware of. Relatively, it could be noted that somehow, there are instances when my past knowledge about nursing is challenged by the new and definite implications that are provide to me by the new subjects and lessons presented to us in class. This is what nursing education is about for me. I do value the fact that this journey has allowed me to know more about myself and about my desire to help others which practically fits my career path.

As the days pass, I find myself practically awed as to how nursing itself and its concepts could actually transform the living systems in the society. Our lives are changed by those who willingly volunteer to take care of us; those who intend to give us more than what we ask for; nurses, as a whole, are a body of individuals who stand for the healthcare needs of the society; a matter that plays a great role on how the community survives the many adversities it has to face. What makes a good nurse? The first time I heard the answer to this question, I was startled. I thought that simply caring for other people was enough; however, in the run of the lessons presented to us in class, I have realized how being a nurse is more of a dedication, a way of life.

Defining my personal growth and capacity to embrace development, I believe that my chance of improving my own being depends on how I desire to create a career that would allow me to realize the best of my capacity, allowing me to extend myself to others as much as needed. I look forward to the weeks that are to come ahead. I know I would learn more and I cannot wait to embrace the developments I am about to undergo.
