How Technology Can Improve the Delivery of Health Care, Research Paper Example

Technology has an enormous potential of improving the way in which health services are offered. In addition, it has the potential to ensure that scientific research is done more effectively and that more innovations and discoveries are made. In the United States, health safety has been improved through use of technology in the process of health care delivery.

Information technology, if used well, helps medical professionals respond to pandemics faster and with ease. Improvement in healthcare delivery can be realized only through a major shift in the way the services are offered today. If this is not done, the exact opposite can happen (Shine, 2002). Proper use of technology by health care providers and medical researchers entails access to knowledge on how to evaluate information for authenticity, ability to handle huge amounts of information as well as operate gadgets of technology.

Selective use of technology is important since not all technological developments can bring improvements in the health care system. Computerized information systems can only be helpful in the process of delivering health services as long as accuracy of the information delivered is maintained and that the channels that information has to go through in order to reach the recipient is reduced.

Electronic health records, if used in all health facilities in the country, would bring about a dramatic change in the way health care services are offered. Different aspects of the services offered would make the processes of examination, diagnosis and medication very simple and stress free (Casalino, 2003). With the right technological gadgets, knowhow and facilities, it becomes easy to carry out pandemic assessments and to recommend the most appropriate and timely health care solutions.
