Exploring How the Society Views Critical Healthcare Measures A Study on Culture and Social Beliefs versus Medicine
Introduction
Critical nursing often involves the need to deal with critical situations of healthcare issues that human individuals get involved with. Unlike regular healthcare issues, individuals subjected to specific critical healthcare dilemmas often need to undergo serious decisions that does not only require their understanding of the medical issue they are currently dealing with, but also that of the different elements that have a direct impact on their case. In this research, the focus of the exploration would be on the culture and social beliefs of people and how these elements tend to create a specific dilemma that both the patients and the nurses have to deal with.
Considering these matters, the study would be focused on defining the social function of norms and culture and how much these factors affects the decision of human individuals as they face critical situations specifically involving their health. The dilemma behind the contradiction of culture against medical measures that need to be acquired specifically subject nurses into a situation that questions their consideration over ethics. What needs to be done in cases where the culture of the patient does not coincide with the process of medical application that needs to be accepted? These and other focus questions shall be given attention to in this particular research being proposed.
Research Questions
To serve as a guideline for this research, there are three primary questions that shall be given specific attention to:
- If culture and social beliefs are the foundation of a specific society, how much influence does it actually leave on the people who live in a specific community?
- In the modern society today, what percentage of the population would actually embrace cultural as well as religious principles in line with the need to save their lives in relation to a specific health problem they may be suffering from?
- Does the modern society still consider culture and social norms to be an important aspect of their lives? What impact does this create on the manner by which critical nurses handle their responsibilities towards their patients?
Proposed Methodology
To be able to garner respective responses from the target participants for this research [both patients and critical health nurses], the researcher intends to utilize a survey-interview process that would entail to get reaction from the individuals to be asked to participate in the study. It is assumed that such approach shall entail the creation of actual results that would create a practical picture that presents the reality behind the possible claims that shall be researched upon from specific literary sources. Upon applying such approach, it is expected that the patients and the nurses to be interviewed shall give their personal views on the issue in focus.
Expected Results
It is expected that from the proposed methodology, the patients to be interviewed shall give their reaction on how much they give attention to their culture as well as their social beliefs especially when it comes to placing themselves into situations that concern their health, their life. In line with this, it is also a common desire of the researcher to see how much the nurses intend to adjust to the situation hence creating a more well-refined environment that they and their patients could both work with.
Improving Information
To create a more distinctive course of direction for this study, the researcher hopes to create a connection between the literary sources to be used and the responses of the participants to the interview. Interlinking the thoughts from both sources is hoped to create a more realistic condition that would specify the role of critical nurses in responding to cultural and social beliefs of patients without the need of insulting them no going overboard against their ethical role as healthcare providers to the society. With this approach, the researcher hopes to make a distinctive indication on how the modern society ought to respond to modern medicine and how they should balance such vision and perception with their personal and cultural beliefs at the same time. To this course, the researcher tends to measure how far the modern society would go especially when it comes to responding to their social responsibilities in place of their health and possibly their lives. The critical situations that are to be used in this study as basis of relevance shall then indicate the seriousness on how nurses ought to respond to critical cases that shall involve their capacity to decide on whether to save a life or accept a culture’s impact on their patients’ lives.
