This made U.S. have the largest amount of influence on third world countries since America could threaten to stop buying oil, but the owners could not cease getting paid.  This made other countries be dependent on U.S.

When the ‘Sick Man of Europe’ or the Ottoman Empire began to crumble, everyone around the world began to think about ways to benefit when the Empire breaks down. When the Great War was over, America was the first one to get his hands on that land or how they are going to benefit from it. Even though America did not gain land,  they signed the biggest contracts with Turkish officials. In addition, they were in the center of Paris Peace Conference which legitimized their world dominant power.
