The Rubik’s Cube Terminology and Move Notation

The terminologies used in the Rubik’s cube approach guide are popular to the cubing world. The squares in the Rubik’s cube are referred to as Cubies. The stickers that have various colors on the fronts of the Cubies are identified as Facelets. Cubbies shape make up three parts including the Edges, Corners and the Center. Take note that in our graphic, there is a label under one side of the cube called “Front”. Looking at the cube from the front perspective is important when making any movements. It is necessary to show the cubes at an angle since you will have to execute different sets of moves depending on the arrangements of Cubies on both of the sides.

The first two sets depicts which vertical column or horizontal row should be moved, and in which course. When viewing the front of the cube, the three top horizontal Cubies composes the top row. The horizontal row of cubies in the middle (from the bottom or top) are what makes up the middle row, and the three horizontal cubies at the bottom comprises the bottom row. Looking at the front of the cube, the three left vertical cubbies make up the column on the left. The following three vertical cubies comprise the middle column and the final three vertical cubies comprise the right column. When looking straight at the cube front, which is a necessary, the nine Cubies with different facelets that are seen are referred to as the front face of the cube. When the rotating arrow is seen, the notation graphics from the third set, direct you to turn the nine cubies. You do it consecutively either clockwise or counter-clockwise. Instead of moving single rows or columns, turn the entire cube’s front face to the track indicated. Before you start, it is suggested that you first joke around with the cube for some time and try to comprehend these moves perfecting how they shift with the various components of the cube. These can be a bit complicated for your fingers. For instance, while moving a middle column or row, you in essence must move two rows or columns, and then rotate the non-middle one back to its preceding position since the middle columns or rows do not move alone. The Seven-Step Guide to Solving a Rubik’s Cube Puzzle

To begin solving the enigma, we must at first prime the cube. Select a corner cubie and spin it so that it reveals as the cubie’s upper-right-hand corner facing the cube’s front. The cubie can adopt any color. In our case, we will use the Blue-Red-White corner as depicted, with the white facelet at the front, the red facelet at the right and the blue facelet at the top. Then, you must rotate the remainder of the cube around in anticipation of the top color that you selected first corner cubie matches the center. The top color is blue; therefore, we must spin the blue center cubie around to the cube’s top. Move the Blue center around in any way until it arrives at the correct top-center space as shown. By priming the cube in this manner, you will have by now solved the two top rows of the cubies. Having done this it is now all set to solve the remaining part of the respective cube.

Step1: Top Row Corners Placement

Having solved the first corner of the top row, we can now solve for the other three corners. To begin with, turn the whole cube to the left such that the original corner cubie turns actually to the upper-left-hand corner showing the front of the cube. We have to solve the upper-right-hand corner again which must have a blue and a red on it.

Hence, we simply find the other corner with red and blue on it thus creating the Blue-Red-Yellow Cubie. Now move the cubie to the bottom of the cube’s right-hand corner. The red, yellow and blue facelets on this target cubie can be on any side or in any order so long as the cubie is in its right position. Turn the bottom row around (without unsettling the top row) until the target cubie is in its position.

Step 2: Placing the Edges and Finishing the Top Layer

At this stage find the target cubie and then move its position, ready to conclude the top layer. Now move on an find the edge cubies completing the top row and then move the cubies into the new intended positions (colored black).Turn the bottom and middle levels until the target cubie is in one of the black spots, and based on which side the top color (blue) is on,. When you are done with step two, you succeed in solving the cube’s top layer.

Step 3: Aligning the Centers and Placing the Layer Edges at the Middle

Start with step 3 by first turning the middle level around such that the center cubies in the middle layer match with the top layer counterparts. This is known as forming the Half-T. When the centers aligned, you will have partly solved the middle layer. Position the target cubie by turning on the only bottom layer so that matches up with its same color center, forming a Full-T and hence you solve the middle layers.

Step 4: Turning the over the Cube and Arranging the corner’s Last Layer

Turn the entire cube is overturning the Blue top to make them look like the bottom. Then arrange unfinished layer corners placing them into their correct places, although not yet completed. Therefore, the front correct corners (1 and 2) must be with Green and Red Facelets. This way, they match up the cubies bottom layers. This solves the Green top of the cube. Using this approach, the cubie’s backside is Orange in color. The back corners of the cube (3 and 4) should contain orange and green Facelets. Additionally, all the cube’s final corners should be on the correct sides.

Step 5: Completing the cube’s Last Layer Corners

In this stride, we will make flips on the last layers around bringing them to the finished positions. To solve the corners, attention in drawn on three distinct configurations concerning the Green facelets. In this step, the Facelets on the remaining part of the cube matter. For this reason, they are not shown, including any other Green facelets on the last layer. Consider that while the middle and bottom configurations settle, locate the green Facelets on the cube’s right side.

Step 6: Completing the Two Edges and Preparing the Two Remaining

Now you find that one of the last layers remaining is placed into its final places, although not rotated accordingly. Turn the entire cube around so that the side with a correctly placed edge is now the front.

Step Seven: Solve the Rubik’s Cube

At this instant, only the unfinished last layer concerns show. The rest of the cube is not revealed. In almost all instances, there will be a complete two edges solved after you finish step six above. Only two edges will be unsolved. These unsolved edges, are however positioned on their respective correct sides. They need a turn around for a complete finish. Turn the cube corners around matching the last two edges to either of the shown graphics to the left when taking a front look of the cube. In our situation, the solved last layer cubies display in color Pink, and the edges not solved reveal in color Purple.

Once you are set, use the last layer algorithm to solve the cube completely. The first solution is referred to as the H pattern, with the second named the “Fish Pattern”. If you had the four edges for some reason flipped after finishing step six, execute the “H” Pattern from the front. It will be possible to find the two original patterns.
