Essay

It has been stated that the Pentagon is guilty of disseminating factual information given to the media and further guilty of using propaganda and emotional techniques to give advancement to military campaigns and incentives. The Pentagon is further guilty of contracting out psychological operations to private companies in order to target foreign audiences with respect to gaining domestic superiority. An example of such undermining is the medias lack of coverage on the Lincoln Group’s work in the Iraq War. The Los Angeles Times reports such interactions with the Lincoln Group but there is no reference to the other 280 stories reported by other media sources. Lack of reporting eventually led to the American public calling this frenzy lack of appropriate measures considering the realm of the situation.  It is factual that only three months following this report another newspaper the New York Times reported that the statements made mentioning the Lincoln Group’s presence in Iraq were unfounded and of no legal violation because of it’s political presence in the war. No full details were listed though to substantiate any of these theories to make them claims of validity.

“Pentagon officials make claim that the presence of the Lincoln Group in the Iraq War and other contractors are still present in making propaganda messages in Iraq and Iraq radios and newspapers.” (“Censored 2007-The Top 25 Stories”). It further appears that the nuclear negotiations were present in Buenos Aires in 1998 and the Lincoln Group was present at the conference vehemently lobbying with a proactive stance. Nuclear energy plans were being pushed in China, Finland and the United States during 2005. There was a need for greater energy supply with the growing need to supply energy and conserve energy and natural resources. “Research reports that in the United Kingdom Monsanto’s former head lobbyist and energy commissioner was signed a million pound contract with the firm.” (“Censored 2007-the Top 25 Stories”). Tony Blair mandated a new energy review in 2006 of which the British did not support because of pre-determined energy resource calculations. Finally the United States was given a federal subsidy of $13 billion to promote the use of nuclear power. Pro-nuclear campaigns and environmentalists became involved with lobbying efforts.

It appears great efforts have been made to gain political advance by the military in the Iraq War with respect to the Liberty Corporation’s presence there and reporting in the media. Further the energy and nuclear conservation efforts appear to be progressive with relation to the anticipated needs of the United States, United Kingdom, China and Finland. It appears that the media is reporting the news effortlessly and without much verification on the first topic but on the latter the information is verified by a credible source.
