Human Performance Technology. Is Technology Overtaking Us? Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 662

Essay

Technology is changing rapidly with more faster and intelligent inventions being created. It is evident that technology is changing the way we live and our lifestyle. The advent of facebook, twitter, iphones have become an integral part of our daily living with its merits and demerits summed into one. If we are not keen on technology we will be left behind because we cannot escape the advancing technology and the evolution of new inventions and innovations. However, we have not yet reached a point of concluding that technology has overtaken us though it is possible. To reach the point of computers overtaking humans, requires that we understand to a much greater degree our own intelligence and consciousness so that we can imbue a machine with the same qualities that we poses.

Humans still decide and are in control of everything. Saying that technology has overtaken human is to say that artificial intelligence has taken over the world which is not the case. Instead, artificial intelligence is helping humanity in making daily decisions by generating data that man has no ability to or time to mine. This is very productive and is not a dangerous undertaking.

The advent of nanotechnology and the rapid merging of humanity with the machines, implants, and sensors usher in the next generation of technology evolution. The invention of a computer with the same complexity and capability of the human brain reveals the evolutionally nature of technology. Nanoscale transistors allow the manufacture of very small intelligent computes as thin as a sheet of paper but with the same brain capacity and capability like man. Due to the rapid change of technology and merging of humanity with machines, the human lifestyle has taken a different route in the 21st century as compared to past centuries. This confirms that the evolution of technology indeed brings about evolution of humanity as a whole.

2) How does technology reveal our consideration of knowledge as transformative and subjective, rather than neutral and objective?

New technological inventions or the evolution of technology reveals how knowledge is transformative and subjective. Less advanced technology is overtaken by a more advanced technology due to knowledge transformation. As knowledge advances, technology also advances. This is because knowledge is universal and dynamic although the principles of science remain static. Technological innovations do not occur in one place but rather occurs in different places across the globe. This reveals that, knowledge if transformative indeed and subjective. For instance, development of nanotechnology is occurring in many countries in the world and each innovation or invention differs from each other although the gadgets invented perform the same functions.

Will technology eventually lead us toward an exploration of the cosmos?

The evolution of nanotechnology is the backbone of cosmos exploration. Nanotechnology allows development of minute gadgets with advanced intelligence. Those gadgets can be used to explore the universe. They can be directed to space and collect relevant information about a specific aspect of the cosmos being explored. In fact technology will eventually lead to cosmos explorations and discoveries of many complex scientific explanations of the cosmos.

What “imperatives” do you see as necessary for the application of technology right now? What values should inform our technological development in terms of their priority.

Every field of study needs the application of technology to improve accuracy, speed and reliability. The world of information technology and electronics is rapidly changing and almost all departments and businesses are embracing new technology because of the advantages associated with it. In the current world it is almost impossible to escape the winds of new technology and rejecting it will be a draw back to the economy and society . Technology development should follow some values so that humanity is protected because some technologies are harmful and can be dangerous. Computers and artificial intelligence application is on the rise and should be applied intelligibly so that human performance is not compromised. Human feelings and emotions must guide technology so that human life is protected from harmful technological innovations.
