This topic of interest titled, “Hyphens” is describing the term in the English grammar structure that require to explain two separate words which they both are relating or referring to one another. A hyphen (-) is a punctuation mark used to relate the word(s) or to refer to the syllables of a single word.There are rules for use of hyphens: (1) to connect two or more words before preposition (2) the use of hyphen with a prefix and or a suffix (3) to break the words in between. These rules often implies the syllables of compound words that are likely to be clear for the readers to see the stances of the words together and to see other root words—might be hyphenated in between of a suffix and a consonant to support adverb in action. In writing, use the punctuation mark of hyphens is called hyphenation because they served as adjective before noun. It should not be confused with dashes (-,—,—), which some of the dashes are longer for different purposes and signs, but with the minus sign (-), which is also longer is less confusing when use hyphens in the sentence properly. A clause must have preposition, direct or indirect objects, apostrophe, comma, and or quotation marks before placing prefix (suffix) hyphens in the beginning or ending before the noun.  It is important for the hyphen to be added in the compound of the sentence for the purpose to help the reader to understand what other information is added to the meaning of the words. It is said that scholars of grammars do not always agree in cases that are complicating the proper use of hyphens; that is, in particular with, the compound syllables words, for example, a word :“manmade” is a compound word whereas in other existing dictionaries listed as man-made. Another example: the compound word, “Motherhood” to hyphen the word to “Mother-hood.” As we intend to follow the most acceptable grammar punctuation rules that are considered as the Standard English. So, therefore, it is important to pay attention to the specifics. For instance, when we want to use prefix in the beginning of the word, we should look for the personal identity with hyphen like, ‘ex-‘, ‘self-‘, ‘woman-‘, ‘man-‘,and ‘my-‘ because it is easier to classify when describing the object of personal identity; with the suffix in the end of the word to describe figures, things, and places, we use hyphen to make a point of expression of the whole compound words, for example:“mid-October,” “Pro-Democrat,” “T-Shirt,” and “mid-1990s.” All of these examples with the use of suffix and hyphen are made up to see a dual meaning for an illustration. Finally, the use of hyphen to make the break in between syllables is hyphenated for the purpose of recognizing the sound for one group of letters then lead on the vocal sound onto the next group and so on to say the pronounce word properly. For example, a hyphenated word : qu-and-ar-ies which is a noun, plural, and pronounces like this, kwon-duh-ree, -dee; It is supposedly to make it easier for those people who wants to practice on saying the word and pronounce the word correctly. At last but not the least, there are other rules pertaining to the use of hyphens because they have different meanings to the most commonly used clauses and definitions that can relate or refer to something. If the use of hyphens is not used in the phrases, clauses, sentences; obviously, without hyphens, it will take the reader to understand or think harder on breaking the words down to a meaning that fits such statement. However, not always the case, with the use of hyphens we can certainly be assured with confidence on expressing an illustration on compound words by hyphenation; and or, an expression in the adverb action; and or, an expression to take into conscious thoughts.
