“I Am” Statements of Jesus in the Book of John, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 225

Essay

In the Book of John he revealed 7 statements relating to “I am” from Jesus. These statements were as follows:

  1. I am the Bread of Life
  2. I am the light of the world
  3. I am the door
  4. I am the good shepherd
  5. I am the resurrection and the life
  6. I am the way and the truth and the life
  7. I am the true vine

Perhaps the most important of these statements to mankind is that of John 11.25 where Jesus states: ” I am the resurrection and the life”  this refers to Jesus Christ as the redeemer and only person that can offer true salvation in the eyes of God.  “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies.”.  Another reference to the spirit of Jesus and eternal life.  Although born of the flesh and died of the flesh he rose from death and as such all those that believe in God and follow the ways of Christ will rise from death and be redeemed to life eternal.  Jesus is the life giver bringing mankind from darkness into the light and Christ died a mortal death for the sins of mankind and providing the means for resurrection of the spirit and life after death.

Close examination reveals all statements are inter woven and provide a deep and lasting insight into the true nature of Christ.
