Mission statements are necessary because they help guide the overall direction and short-term and long-term operations of the company.  IMAX is well-known around the United States for delivering quality entertaining in several mediums, most notably being the high quality movie theater experiences for thousands of people across the country.  The mission statement for IMAX company is as follows: “at the heart of the Imax vision lie three qualities: a commitment to our customers and shareholders, a commitment to excellence and a commitment to delivering the best entertainment experiences through new technologies” (Conveyor.com).  IMAX places a strong emphasis on having a commitment to their customers as well as the shareholders or the company’s ownership.  It also concentrates on maintaining and producing an excellent product.  Finally, IMAX has committed to developing and utilizing new technologies and mediums in order to deliver its customers with the best entertainment experiences possible.  By creating a specific mission statement, the employees and management within IMAX Company are able to have a strong direction of purpose to guide them in their daily activities.
