Research Paper

In 1984 Chuck Hull of 3D Systems Corporation has created first printing machine capable of three dimensions, was the first 3D Printer. This technology was introduced in 1980 and till 2011 it was widely known around the world. It is another form of an industrial robot that carries an additive process that is the reason it is also known as additive manufacturing.

This technology is rapidly increasing, from 1984 to 2014 in this short span of time, 3D technology can be seen everywhere in our social life. It seems that 3D printing is controlling masses mind to use it, with providing them a unique way of printed items. In this context, we can take an example of some army equipments like 3D printed guns, tanks and the specially drones available at beginner level’s shopkeepers in the market. There are huge ways of new innovations for 3D Printing machines (Perry, 2014).

If we conduct a research about 3D printing, we will find that there are two kinds of people using this technology. Households or hobbyist – in this group people are taking different plastic objects made by inexpensive machines for amusement and comforting them in their homes. Second group are the Industrialists taking 3D printing as a business, also termed as additive manufacturing. These people are creating huge impact on economy.

Currently on a low scale, people are making small house made items with 3D printing, such as: bracelets, puzzle games, figurines etc… These items cast from $ 500 to $ 4000 but its turning with every moment. Some groups of critiques says that this technology will create a worst impact on economy, when they start production of heavy machinery alternates instead of making parts, simply at home.

In this contemporary world, customers do not have an exact way of thinking. Many people do not take their goods apart to fix it and explore what was happened with it. Rather than when 3D printers are available at every house of a city, local businessmen and hardware stores could adopt this facility to fix their items easily at home, instead of brining them into market place. This period will alarm the industrialists of the country, when a common man take his / her faulty item to home depot and even a store man could locate the problem and fixing your solution with print on the spot (Heather, 2013).

Its obverse side is additive manufacturing, where people are creating different heavy items with print such as: aero planes, tanks, buses etc… In traditional industry, they need unskilled workers, which are less expensive such as in the countries: China and India. Spreading globalization among the world over last few decades, international outsourcing by companies lifted opportunities away from former manufacturing countries like the US and Japan. In comparison to traditional manufacturing, additive manufacturing based industry tends to be more skilled instead of unskilled like traditional.

Additive manufacturing involved efficiency in the process, cost and speed of manufacturing.Currently, research cost and starting such a huge process are lengthy but the further is not foggy. After a few years, 3D printing design will allow designs to perform multi functions rather than just one in current situations (Raven, 2012).

The real impact of this technology could be seen on our life’s, when multinational companies starts signing contracts and begin functionalities in this field. Currently, there are a few companies involved in 3D printing but not on a large scale. Let’s wait for that time to enjoy its speedy impacts.
