Welcome parents! Choosing child care for young students is very important to families. It is of paramount importance that parents become oriented to the program they select for their child to use their services. Knowing and comprehending the various policies and procedures the child care center implements and enforces positively affects families and the experience children have in it. At this orientation, various members of the staff and faculty will share information with you regarding our program, and will also provide a copy of the policies and procedures that this program abides by. The objective of this orientation is to fully inform you all of necessary information for when you leave your children in our care. We will cover broad areas as listed below. If there is an area that we omitted that you feel is important to procure information about, please do not hesitate to ask us and we will gladly assist you.

The general framework for this orientation is as follows:

Phone inquiry:  Once a parent of a prospective student contacts the school via phone inquiry, parent education will commence. He or she will be provided with basic information about the center, including the school’s mission statement and the guiding philosophy. The human resources professional subsequently invites prospective parents to a tour of the center.  Phone inquiries constitute introductory opportunities for prospective parents.

Center tour: The Center’s director will be in charge of leading the center tour for prospective parents. This tour will include a visit into a typical classroom, to the nurse’s office, and to the place where the students eat.

Enrollment: The assistant director will walk the parents through necessary steps for enrollment, including a discussion of financial aid if a certain student needs it. Parents must set up a meeting with human resources and obtain an application form as the preliminary step. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the school year. Parents would then have to provide supporting documents, including immunization records, birth certificate of the child, two different proofs of residency, such as a passport and drivers license, and proof of income of the household the student lives in. Without the inclusion of these aforementioned documents, the application is considered incomplete and will not be processed.

Child’s first day: The lead teacher will go through what a typical day in the center is like for the students by giving a brief tour of the classroom do that parents get an idea of what their kids will be doing on a daily basis. This portion of the orientation also allows pedagogues to discuss their homework policies if such expectations are present. In addition, parents will be provided with necessary contact information in case they have any comments or concerns about their child.

Parent orientation: At the conclusion of the orientation, parents will have the opportunity to pose questions and learn about the following categories and policies:

  • Child health and wellness
  • This philosophy of the curriculum
  • Tuition and payment policies (financial aid)
  • Early learning expectations
  • Daily procedures and expectations

Reiteration of the values and policies at the child care center is of paramount importance for the orientation to be successful.
