Introduction

In the history of United States of America, Imperialism has been one of its major parts since American Revolution which is the period just after the cold war. During this period America depicts characters that reflect its interest in becoming the most powerful nation and maintain control or authority over other countries across the world. Imperialism had several impacts in the history of United States including emergence and extension of the social gospel movement (Ninkovich, p. 4). Social gospel is a vigorous movement that was witnessed in late 19th century and early 20th century which centered on the application of Christian ethics to social problems that were being witnessed by then in United States, imperialism extended the social gospel as during this period, the mounting pressure to civilize the uncivilized population across the world took the center stage, it was thought through social gospel subjected by the Christian protestant, Christianity would ensure civilization, and through civilization, United states would be able to spread its culture. (Ninkovich, p. 41)

These social gospel progressive movement sustained imperialism both within and outside America. America was able to spread its empire by expanding its military options during the late nineteenth century and at the same time it resulted in transcends competition that was characterized by exploitative capitalism of which dominated American society and this sustained imperialism (Ninkovich, p. 123).

In deed American benefited through imperialism, it was through imperialism that America expanded its natural resources and developed its economy that had been crumbled after the cold war (Ninkovich, p. 200). For example, it can be evident that through imperialism the industrial economy stated growing at a very fast rate that led to America to produce goods than it could sufficiently consume itself, this forced it to look for new market in order to dispose the  over abundances goods that were being manufactured.
